Halo 4 gameplay: "Master Chief can parkour with the best of them"

343 Industries' Frank O'Connor has suggested that Halo 4 may (emphasis on the "may") approach first-person movement in a manner similar to Splash Damage's Brink, in which players could wall-jump and slide through gaps parkour-style.

HALO4KOFF xD

just kidding of course.

I have to say I'm pretty excited for this one. Bungie got into a cycle where they wouldn't change the gameplay that much because they still wanted it to "feel like halo." Which then felt like you are still playing the same game. I'm curious how another developer is going to go at it with the gameplay changes.

Vaultin would be cool as well as wall stalls. But please no ninja wall running. As cool as it would be to see MC be ninja it just wouldn't fit. Diving would be cool too. Imaging diving off a tower usin the thrusters to gain speed?!

I was never a halo fan, I was the ps3 guy, but I must say.....Halo is the shit!(Amazing)

Fishy Fingers4390d ago

What managed to convert you about Halo 4 if you weren't a fan of the franchise? I don't see any major changes been adopted by 343i.

sandman2244390d ago

I just started playing reach and I like the challenge and skill it takes to get a kill. I love the controls. It has a good feel.

lategamer4390d ago

It's a shame you missed the Halo 2 XBL days. Besides the glitchers and modders, the gameplay in that game was bar-none. It wasn't perfect (too much aim assist, glitches, etc.) but oh man oh man, the maps were great and the gameplay was amazingly fluid.

Hopefully 343i can recapture some of that with Halo 4. Can't wait.

Nimblest-Assassin4390d ago (Edited 4390d ago )

Same here man... Sure I do not have a 360, but I remember playing halo and halo2 and halo 3 at my cousins house... Split screen campaign, split screen multiplayer... I don't care what console you align with( kind of pathetic if u do) but halo is awesome. Hope we can continue the tradition with 4. I am typically a Ps3/pc/wii player, but I have played a couple 360 exclusives at my cousins house

tdogchristy904390d ago

I'm sorry but the more I hear the more disappointed I get. Spec ops, currency, load outs, those weapon drop things and no weapon settings, new armor, now parkour? What happened to you halo?

Long live bungie. (halo 1-3)

lategamer4390d ago

Spec Ops =/= Spartan Ops. Spartan Ops is basically it's own co-op campaign with your multiplayer character, with it's own story. Whats so bad about that?

Currency. It was in Halo Reach. It kinda sucks we have to unlock weapons and abilities, but I doubt it will take that long.

Load outs. Again, in Reach. At least we don't have armor lock slowing the game down. And personally, I don't mind load outs. I think they add more variety to the game, after H3 the game started to get stale for me.

Weapon Drops. Gonna wait before I rant on this, it may only be in some gametypes (i.e. social). I'll see how it's implemented before I bitch.

No weapon settings? What? 343i confirmed custom games and such will be customizable.

New Armor. Looks good, graphics look great, I'm cool with it.

Parkour. I think Frankie is saying they basically made Chief feel more like a Spartan II. Heavy, but quick and agile. Play Halo 3 and you don't feel like a walking tank, you feel like a normal bullet sponge soldier. Halo 4 will prob. have a Crysis 2 like feel in campaign.

I just don't know how I feel about this. On one hand, it would be amazing. The amount of changes could be just what Halo needed. On the other hand, the changes might totally change the Halo we all know and love. I just don't know.

Fishy Fingers4390d ago

They won't stray to far from the trusted formula, it will remain Halo at its heart. MS wouldn't hand completely free reign over to 343i creative team to do whatever they like with their billion dollar poster boy.

But on the flip side, you've got to include enough to set itself apart.

Pretty excited to see how they handle it all.

Well, 4-Infinite dropped the ball massively so don't worry.

Sgt_Slaughter59d ago (Edited 59d ago )

Not really. 4, 5, MCC, and Infinite are only remembered for their shortcomings and failures when the franchise was purely known for being a system seller and an all-time great. There's a reason 1, 2, 3, and Reach are looked back on fondly, and it's not because of nostalgia.

FinalFantasyFanatic59d ago

I don't know of anyone that speaks fondly of the later Halo games, I would like to play 5, but I know it's not good, and I'm just waiting on Infinite to hit my strike price. I played MCC a lot later after it came out, so must of those bugs/issues were gone by the time I played it.

To say it dropped the massively is just not true. Many in the community hold H5 as the best mp mechanics in the entire series and say its what 4 should've been. Its campaign was trash but the MP is Fantastic and many faces of the community still play today and it only made 500mill in the matter of months but sure it dropped the ball massively. 4 was hated due to all the changes at once. And CoD like feature and rightful get hate but it's campaign story was liked by a majority of ppl. 343 hasn't nailed ot 100% but they get 1 thing perfect but F up in other places. Infinite had a good campaign and design but the story was a mess. The MP improves upon what Halo 3 was and is what many ppl wanted to go back to but it lacked content severely. So massively aint the word. Dropping the ball massively is when it's pure trash and unplay/unenjoyable. Most ppl blind by nostalgia so soon as 1 thing aint the same its hated cause Halo set the bar so high
FYI reach was not that good.

Dead IP, time to invent something new.

kaos8960d ago

Maybe they can have ID or one of the COD studios help 343 with this series.
