DmC: Devil May Cry Gameplay Videos

Capcom has released 2 new gameplay videos for DmC.

Agreed and Dante looks more like the evil dead than a devil hunter who is half human half devil or for this matter half angel half devil. Odd how his angel mother has had zero influence on Dante looking remotely normal.

The 1st video had zero action just all boring platforming ala Enslaved style. Looks like the engine cant do morphing worlds and combat at the sametime.

The 2nd video probably tried to capture previous DMC combat but failed for being slow and because gunplay was lame probably because they didnt want an outbreak of "omg why are the guns over heating!!!"

Looks like this DMC will also follow suit of previous Ninja Theory titles by having some form of partner like Kai in Heavenly sword and whatever her name in Enslaved.

Gone are the days of old DMC. May in rest in peace and may Hideki san release a true successor with Bayonetta 2.

The biggest shame in all of this is had Ninja Theory kept their mouth shut and released it as an original IP, not only do I think it would have been better, but it would have probably not had this level of back lash. However, as DMC it doesnt look like it will be good enough and probably end up selling to a new crowd (the crowd who bought Enslaved).

I'm glad the character concept changed a little since the announcement. He doesn't look like a little punk anymore. Combat looks solid. That's why I played DMC in the first place. The only one I thought had a good story was DMC 3. Hopefully this one can top that.

Anyway, DmC is looking better and better. Now I'm not saying that it will eventually be an amazing game that lives up to the DMC franchise, I'm just pointing out the fact that NT has greatly improved their build.
It's a good thing that they're slowly showing us how the game works. When people saw the slow-mo moments breaking the combat's flow, they focused on that.
Now that it's not a problem anymore, it's time to focus on the health bar, the style meter (which I like), and it goes on and on. So I do hope all the feedback Ninja Theory gets will be intelligently used.

It does feel like it doesn't belong here. DmC is the most colorful of them all, yet they are giving it a grey straight line for a health bar?

I can understand the style meter and the combo information being white/greyish so that it can easily be read with all those colors around.
However, the health bar should be completely redesigned to look like it's more than just a line.
I always think of how awesome God of War's HUD is. Colored lines on one huge blade. And then someone thought it would be fun to add blood on it when players hit enemies! It's simple and it works.
Surely Ninja Theory can come up with something better than curbstones...

The game looks slightly smoother than before, but the physics are still messed up. It seems as if they are trying to make everything that took skill in the previous games more simple to pull off. Instead of having to learn how to jump cancel to keep the enemies in the air, NT has it to where all you have to do to keep enemies in the air is to keep mashing buttons. The hit pauses from the previous gameplay trailers still exists, and the combat looks to be too scripted for my taste.

I'll just wait for MGR for my action game fix.

Ok first of is this game is european and is made in both Japan and the UK, and is not "American".

Second, I CANNOT BELIEVE people have not picked up on the news anchor bullshit part. That part was there to criticize and show the over exaggerated, un-correct, biased, and lying media (such as Fox News and CNN). They made the anchor over exaggerate and call him a terrorist, because American news medias like to throw that around freely at anything. It is a little parody, that is representing the biased and untruthful doings of American mass media and their PROPAGANDA.

I liked what I saw, But I'm not exactly convinced of the mini demons he's facing. They look like fodder that he simply mows down in herds... But story will be top notch. And his character design has largely improved from a meth head to something a little more earthly. Case in point. I can't wait to play it.

The control scheme is completely changed around. Everything is way easier to do:

Move -> How you did it in previous games -> How you do it in DmC

Hightime -> R1 + Back + Y (hold Y) -> Hold B

Roll -> R1 + Left/Right + X -> Press RB

There isn't anything in the game that requires more than 2 inputs together and most of those moves are the stance moves where you are either holding RT or LT. I haven't even seen anything that requires you to even push the analog in any direction, it's all auto-targetted soft lock on. Suddenly that instance of Dante comboing an enemy and then switching to a target from off screen way back in TGS makes sense now.

This game looks like a DMC game because the moves are straight up ripped from previous games... but you aren't inputting the same commands. It's like saying Bayonetta is DMC because it has Hightime like moves and aerial combos plus long ranged weapons etc... doesn't make it a DMC game. In fact Bayonetta having a hard lock on option is more DMC than DmC is.
