This game lost things about DMC that made it was it was.The heavy gothic overtones, the powerful monsters that only a demon like real Dante could kill. SHM,I want a true DMC game, not this shit..

Muerte24944392d ago

I'm sorry but I'm not interested at all in the new Devil May Cry. He looks too much like Edward Cullen from Twilight aka Robert Patterson. He's already over saturated enough. I don't need him in my damn video games too.

Captain Qwark 94392d ago

say what you want, imo it looks great. still a day one buy for me.

i still dont care for dantes new look but w/e ill get over it

fei-hung4392d ago

Agreed and Dante looks more like the evil dead than a devil hunter who is half human half devil or for this matter half angel half devil. Odd how his angel mother has had zero influence on Dante looking remotely normal.

The 1st video had zero action just all boring platforming ala Enslaved style. Looks like the engine cant do morphing worlds and combat at the sametime.

The 2nd video probably tried to capture previous DMC combat but failed for being slow and because gunplay was lame probably because they didnt want an outbreak of "omg why are the guns over heating!!!"

Looks like this DMC will also follow suit of previous Ninja Theory titles by having some form of partner like Kai in Heavenly sword and whatever her name in Enslaved.

Gone are the days of old DMC. May in rest in peace and may Hideki san release a true successor with Bayonetta 2.

The biggest shame in all of this is had Ninja Theory kept their mouth shut and released it as an original IP, not only do I think it would have been better, but it would have probably not had this level of back lash. However, as DMC it doesnt look like it will be good enough and probably end up selling to a new crowd (the crowd who bought Enslaved).

Awesome_Gamer4392d ago

This is not Devil may cry.. this is bullshit

Karlnag34392d ago

Looks pretty cool so far, but that first trailer isn't new. It's been online for ages.

When DMC is in ashes.......Capcom has my permission to die....*Bane Voice*

KarateExplosion4392d ago

I'm glad the character concept changed a little since the announcement. He doesn't look like a little punk anymore. Combat looks solid. That's why I played DMC in the first place. The only one I thought had a good story was DMC 3. Hopefully this one can top that.

Croash4392d ago (Edited 4392d ago )

I noticed this in the screenshots Capcom released today : http://raptornews.com/

Anyway, DmC is looking better and better. Now I'm not saying that it will eventually be an amazing game that lives up to the DMC franchise, I'm just pointing out the fact that NT has greatly improved their build.
It's a good thing that they're slowly showing us how the game works. When people saw the slow-mo moments breaking the combat's flow, they focused on that.
Now that it's not a problem anymore, it's time to focus on the health bar, the style meter (which I like), and it goes on and on. So I do hope all the feedback Ninja Theory gets will be intelligently used.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4392d ago

The style meter is the only thing I've liked thus far. The health meter has to go. It looks so freakin' stupid...

Croash4392d ago (Edited 4392d ago )

It does feel like it doesn't belong here. DmC is the most colorful of them all, yet they are giving it a grey straight line for a health bar?

I can understand the style meter and the combo information being white/greyish so that it can easily be read with all those colors around.
However, the health bar should be completely redesigned to look like it's more than just a line.
I always think of how awesome God of War's HUD is. Colored lines on one huge blade. And then someone thought it would be fun to add blood on it when players hit enemies! It's simple and it works.
Surely Ninja Theory can come up with something better than curbstones...

Vandamme214392d ago

This looks awesome..no offense but..some of u haters needs to stfu.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4392d ago

I love how it's ok for you to express your liking of the game, but 'haters' need to shut up. I mean seriously? This is probably the most retarded thing I'll read in weeks.

Vandamme214392d ago Show
Kenshin_BATT0USAI4392d ago

I never said I liked or disliked the game. What are you...some kind of idiot? No, an idiot deserve more credit then a down syndrome child like yourself.

Besides that, what's wrong with being a homosexual exactly? Not to say I am gay (which I'm not) but seriously? It's 2012 buddy, grow the fuck up.

Chitown712914392d ago

And the gameplay looks like shit too.....this is not Devil May Cry...... 30 fps doesn't do it for any action game, especially a button masher....

Karlnag34392d ago

"Besides that, what's wrong with being a homosexual exactly? Not to say I am gay (which I'm not) but seriously? It's 2012 buddy, grow the fuck up."

I find this quote incredibly amusing and hypocritical when compared with your earlier "No, an idiot deserve more credit then a down syndrome child like yourself." line.

Very interesting to see a person touting equality and maturity, then use insults that are offensive to more than the person you're directing them at. That seems rather idiotic and immature to me. Sure makes you seem just as bad as Vandamme21, doesn't it?

So, Vashlion, I ask you: What makes homosexuals and idiots deserve respect, whereas you're quite comfortable insulting those with down syndrome? As far as I can tell, none of these can help the way they are, nor is there anything wrong with that.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4392d ago

Those with down syndrome are retarded. That's what it is. I'm comparing his intellect to that of a down syndrome person. I'm not claiming it's inherently wrong with those who have down syndrome, I'm claiming there's something wrong with Van however.

Either way an insult is an insult. I'm not gonna take back what I said, I'd rather be an asshole than a homophobic prick who puts down other's opinions and ways of life.
btw, I never said anything about being mature or an 'equal-ist', I don't see myself as either of those things.

Karlnag34392d ago (Edited 4392d ago )

"I'm comparing his intellect to that of a down syndrome person. I'm not claiming it's inherently wrong with those who have down syndrome, I'm claiming there's something wrong with Van however. " That statement contradicts itself.

"btw, I never said anything about being mature or an 'equal-ist'" Look at the first quote in my previous reply. You questioned what is wrong with being gay, which promotes equality, by saying that one person that is different in some way is by no means less of an individual as a result. At least, that is how I see it, and very well, perhaps I'm reading too much into it.

However you saying that you said nothing about maturity... that's just false. You said "It's 2012 buddy, grow the fuck up". "Grow up". Point made there.

Also, I don't care if you would rather be an "asshole" than a "homophobic prick", I wasn't calling you out on being either, but yeah, you both quickly managed to seem like d*cks.

My point was that while you posted a somewhat intelligent response to Vandammes21's initial post, that immediately went out of the window when he childishly hurled insults at you. You then just childishly threw more back at him, while employing double standards, as well as directly contradicting yourself. Which you then did again in response to me (contradicting yourself that is, you at least didn't feel the need to insult me).

It just seems funny to me that you get on your high horse and act like you're above him and insult his intelligence, and yet your responses just make you seem childish as well.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC7h ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Friendlygamer8h ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey6027h ago(Edited 7h ago)

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya5h ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde5h ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me
