This game is easily the prettiest-looking browser game I've ever come across, though combat seems too lacking (dumbed down). I particularly liked how there is a real-time war going on, with system occupation and base-building / resource mining.

Not enough to take me away from STO though, especially now that that's free-to-play.

Couldn't get into STO myself, but that was in the premium days. I've not tried it since but the combat felt too much like Uncharted Waters Online + Space :D

Animal FarmVille: How F2P is Changing Games Development for the Worse

Not long ago, making games was simple. Publishers would look at popular genres or areas they saw growth potential in, and then they’d assign a developer to make a game based on what they decided. It was the developer’s job to make the game as good as they could within the timeframe and budget set by the publisher. The game would then sell for $50-60.

Now things are changing.

That's a frighteningly good title for a piece like this, because it's true. What was once a hero and savior has now gone too far towards the other extreme. The pigs have become the master, and are doing exactly the things they used to hate. =/

Enemy Crab, our newest Author breaks down for us the top 5 free MMORPGs.

They left out some pretty good ones IMO.

Hi Spenok,

I did a good amount of research for this piece but admittedly picked some of the games I liked best personally, while attempting to include very different games. What would you have added to the list?

Hey man it's good to see the author getting involved in the community on the N4G side.

Personally on free to play MMO's I would have put Aion on the list for sure, and LOTRO. The games you picked were good games. And I can see why you chose them. Though I would have left out one or two of them.
