So you think you're hardcore? Try getting these! (Meodia)

Meodia takes a look at some of the hardest and more time consuming trophies out there that are driving completionists insane.

dc14425d ago

Yep. Vanquish made me pull my hair out.. and I don't have any.
and R2's 10,000 Multiplayer Kill requirement made me said because I new I wasn't pouring that much time into the match play.

I do have the Killzone 2 Platinum :)

Hanif-8764425d ago

Well, i'm really proud of my Grand Theft Auto IV platinum trophy as i thought that i was never ever gonna get it.

Rynx4425d ago

I wonder how come these list forget about Disgaea 3. I'm trying to platinum that game now and it's ridiculous how much grinding you have to do. I'm logged in at over 175hrs now and I'm still barely at the halfway point.

Doomguard4425d ago

You obviously didn't read the article, Disgaea is mentioned at the very end. This isn't a definitive list, it was stated that there are more out there and covering all of them would probably make the list up to 100 entries long.

faysal4425d ago

ahhh got kz2 platinum but i dont have the other games, i think he should have put cod world at war dam that game kicked my ass!!!! and it had this problem where when you dont play that game it would lose your save data. every time i finished the lvl it lost my data, so i had to do the lvls over and over again untill i got the platinum :D

Fylus4425d ago

WaW was only hard in the sense that Veteran difficulty lowered your health to basically 2-shot kills and made the enemies spam grenades. It was not at all true difficulty the way Demon's/Dark Souls is.

Kinda wondering why the hell this list would exclude those games...

Doomguard4425d ago

The article does say that this isn't a definitive list, but instead just some of the many out there, and obviously it tried to focus on some of the less popular and downloadable games without platinums. However I found Demons Souls to have a pretty easy platinum, I got it in just 80 hours, which was even less than what it took me for Yakuza 3. As for Dark Souls, I have yet to play that one. If you play with spells and bows, the game was pretty easy to beat.

Fylus4424d ago (Edited 4424d ago )

I agree that for people that are devote gamers who can soak up a ton of in game hours can beat a game like Demon's/Dark Souls, but can you honestly imagine an average joe gamer ever platnuming Demon's/Dark Souls? Let alone even finishing one of them. You make some great points though.

Wintersun6164425d ago (Edited 4425d ago )

MGS2 wasn't easy either. Beating the game on extreme and some of the VR missions we're a major pain in the ass.

Also Shadow of the Colossus' Hard Time Attack mode is pure madness, especially Colossi #3.

jthamind4425d ago

mfw nothing from NG2/NGS2.

tehpees34425d ago (Edited 4425d ago )

Of those I have only played GTA IV and Killzone 2. I have neither of those trophies.

@ theeg I know what press the A button is but where is go through the first door from? lol

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

CrimsonWing698h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker8h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing697h ago(Edited 7h ago)

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Not a single Reistance? Fuck this article.

mastershredder12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

Starhawk over Warhawk?...... Dude, NO ONE should listen to you.

Odd choices for "best" more like you settled as these being the "best" that available to you at the time, cause a lot of these blow or were average to poor performers that ended up in bargain bin.

Missing too many great sci-fi titles here. The Void, The Resistance Series, Killzone 2 and 3, Enslaved, man.. there were so many, this is redicu-list.

FreeckyCake12d ago

Nobody should listen to you either with that attitude.

OtterX12d ago

I agree that Starhawk shouldn't be above Warhawk, however I must say that Starhawk multiplayer was incredible for its time! Many people wrote it off bc the single player was quite terrible, bc it was basically 1 huge tutorial for the multiplayer. But I can tell you never spent any significant amount of time in MP. It was doing incredibly tense base building w air, foot and land vehicle (and mech!) combat long before Fortnite was ever a thing.

I bet it would have been much better received if it had just ditched the story mode all together. So many people like yourself completely wrote it off based on reviews by reviewers that let the criticism of single player weigh heavily on their scores. I bet you didn't even play it.

Friendlygamer12d ago

The riddick games are some of the best stealth titles ever, highly underrated

YourMommySpoils12d ago

What games? All recall plating was Escape from Butcher Bay.

Friendlygamer12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

There's also the less acclaimed 'assault on dark Athena'

( also, not saying this to you specifically but there's both resistance and killzone games on the list, it's amazing how even something so simple and innocent as a game list can be turned into misinformed vitriol here lol )

jznrpg12d ago

Glad to see Resonance of Fate. Enslaved was pretty good too. I’m sure there are others nobody has listed but I’m too tired to try and think of anything

EA Shoots Down Dead Space 2 Remake Rumors: 'No Validity to This Story'

EA has shut down rumors that EA Motive considered a Dead Space 2 remake before shelving it due to low sales of the previous game, saying there's "no validity" to the reports.

XiNatsuDragnel14d ago

Sure.... right.... at least remake dead space 3 w/o microtransactions bs.

XiNatsuDragnel13d ago

I sometimes I wished I didn't Ngl lol

Knightofelemia14d ago

Why not remake DS2 whether shot down or not it's still my favorite game next to DS1. As much as I hate EA I would buy or would have bought DS2 day one.

MeteorPanda14d ago

No validity XD "Guys guys, we cant possible make a good game or cater to the gamers wants, stop"

Yi-Long14d ago

I don't know if sales met their expectations or not. I just know that the high review scores received my attention so I was interested in buying it, but its price stayed high (50+ bucks) for so long that I simply never bothered picking it up.

Tacoboto14d ago

Doesn't pay full price
Doesn't pay *any* price
Ponders if sales met expectations regarding an allegedly canceled sequel.

Gee...

Yi-Long13d ago

Well, for starters, I'm sure there are plenty of games I never bought which did, somehow, still, meet their sales-expectations.

Concerning Dead Space; I never played and thus cared for the original. It's in multiple genres (shooter, sci-fi, horror) I don't particularly care about so it was barely on my radar pre-launch. I was never its target-audience.

When reviews hit, and it was scoring big, it gathered my interest, so while it wasn't in my field of interest, it mrans that I wanted to give it a fair shot and at least give it a try, as I do with many games across different genres; I tend to just cherry-pick the good stuff and see if it's for me or not.

But, I do wait for sales on those games I take a risk on.

Kornholic13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Lol, you are a huge part of the problem. If a very high-quality game is not even worth 50 bucks to you, then what is?
