i like the gamer access

TheHater4437d ago

What happen to the hiphopgamer?
Did N4G finally banned that site or what?

SwiffEpics4437d ago

That Day 1 DLC is BS either way...but im still very much looking forward to ME3.

Nick2120044437d ago

I agree to a certain extent. While it may be true that Bioware did not begin working on the "From Ashes" DLC until after they completed Mass Effect 3, if they finished it in time for Mass Effect 3's release they should release the DLC as a complimentary download at least for those who pick the game up the first week!

Godmars2904437d ago

Meh, say or believe what you want, but all I know is that its now effectively a $70 game.

People wont have to buy the DLC, those w/o online can't, but if the game manages to hook a newcomer to the series then chances are they'll pay the $10 more because the DLC will have in-game advertising in the form of a non-interactive character they'll want to play.

Nevermind the choice to make it DLC likely effected the game's general planning.

NewMonday4436d ago

i will just delay buying ME3 for a year, same thing for Skyrim.

jwk944436d ago

How do you not finish something you announced 7-8 months before release?

cervantes994437d ago

Most games are only 8 - 10 hours and ME3 is around 40+ hours and somehow Bioware is milking the consumer with their DLC?

Whiney little babies!

Intentions4437d ago (Edited 4437d ago )

Well... If you think about it.

"Day 1 DLC" is basically just a cheap way to get fast and easy cash out of the consumer. A certain number of people will say that this content was originally in the game to begin with, but the publisher/developer pulled it out to earn more cash and/or it didn't fit into the "main" story of the game.

That is probably why a lot of people are "Whiney little babies"

Abdou234436d ago

If i remember correctly this happened with Assassin's Creed 2,they removed chapters(or whatever it's called)11-12 and made them DLC.
also happened with Deus Ex:Human Revolution but didn't have that much effect on the story.I don't like it either but i think people are going crazy because it's just EA.

Mikhail4437d ago

Games from both PS1 and PS2 era are longer with no dlc.

EmperorDalek4436d ago

Not really a fair comparison though is it as production costs for PS1, PS2 and PC games from that era were far less than they are now.

cervantes994437d ago

If you don't like it then don't buy it - pretty simple really.

You can finish the game and trilogy quite easily with no DLC. If you really feel strong against the DLC then don't even buy the game - that'll show em!

DLC is planned well in advance and if people think developers can't start on it until the main game is complete then your delusional. Business is not run that way in most any industry.

Hicken4437d ago (Edited 4436d ago )

That excuse is shitty.

It doesn't stop bad trends from continuing, because there will almost ALWAYS be more people who don't care one way or the other than people who care enough to like or dislike it.

Also, no other industry is as dependent upon its consumers. That is to say: the gaming industry thrives more off its consumers than especially any other media.

As Mikhail said, games from previous generations were longer than 40 hours, and didn't have the luxury of expansion packs or DLC; the content we're getting these days for what we pay up front is substantially less than previous generations. DLC allows SOME games to increase their length and add content, but that comes as a price.

The fact that there are practices like on-disc and day-one DLC leave a bad taste in the mouths of people who want the most value for the money they spent on a game.

Edit: Not that I don't have others, but I'm not about to find a new hobby because you're being an ignorant ass. In my fifteen years of more than casual gaming, I've never known it to be okay to accept less for more money. If Mass Effect- or any game, for that matter- was offering me the 80+ hours I spent on FF and the like and THEN had DLC on top of that, I'd be all for it.

As it stands, it's a shame that companies make as much money as they do, produce things like DLC to make more money, then turn around and implement online passes to make money off copies they've already been paid for. And it's an even BIGGER shame that gamers are defending them for it.

SilentNegotiator4436d ago

Thanks for that ENTHRALLING analysis. We're all quite impressed to find out that we aren't forced to purchase DLC and that developers are capable, within the realm of our universe's physics, of creating DLC WHILE they're making the main game.

But when gamers are paying $60+ for games, not all of them are going to be happy to find out that a character and plot was purposefully excluded so that they could charge an additional $10 separately for it.

cervantes994436d ago

Sign of the times - deal with it or pick a new hobby. It sounds to me like a few of you feel entitled to everything for free. The game's story was not cut to make you pay extra quit being such drama queens.

Gamers these days...

never bought ANY dlc, never will

expansion packs are different, if it adds a truely significant amount of content then i may buy it. Shivering Isles, totally worth $20....

charachters, guns, skins......

"F" That!

archemides5184436d ago

then the future is a failure, because killzone 3 multiplayer is HORRIBLE. and it has the WORST menu UI and visual design i've ever seen. and this is coming from someone who has hundreds of hours in kz2.

gijsbrecht4436d ago (Edited 4436d ago )

like you I've clocked countless hours in KZ2's mp (still playing it), but KZ3's mp is one of the most beautiful and engaging multiplayers I know of. And I've played my share, including the latest CoD, BF and UC.
I respect your opinion, but I had to disagree.

trenso14436d ago

Yea I didn't like the blood shot red UI menu

Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.

1Victor346d ago

Can’t wait for their next franchise

SullysCigar346d ago

Same. They nailed it with Horizon. The trouble is I also want a new Killzone! Can't I just have it all?!

jznrpg346d ago

I’m with you I want Horizon 3 , Killzone and new IPs

badz149345d ago

I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.

man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!

Vengeance1138346d ago

32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III

Shane Kim346d ago

That's kind of a huge drop though. It's only been two games.

VersusDMC346d ago

One year after realease HZD sold 7.6 million.

https://www.noobfeed.com/ne...

So not a drop off.

Unless you're saying a HFW should have sold as much now as HZD sold in 5 years?

Vengeance1138346d ago

It's been 3 games, this includes Call of the Mountain. Also no, its a great improvement over HZD.

solideagle346d ago

lol you are comparing:

HZD: 28 February 2017 - May 2023 (6 years+)

HFW: 18 February 2022 - May 2023 (1 year+)

We will see if it surpass original number.

Phoenix76346d ago

@shane, 2 full main games, 2 DLC add ons, 1 VR spin off game, oh and a an official LEGO set.
Not too bad for an ip that's only been on market for 6 years

Wow, very impressive. I didn't know the numbers were so high for Forbidden West. Still playing through it myself

thesoftware730346d ago (Edited 346d ago )

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.

I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.

blacktiger345d ago

thank you fps lover, I'm with you

talocaca346d ago

Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.

The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.

OzzY-waZZy346d ago (Edited 346d ago )

Kinda wish they move on from Horizon tbh.

potatoseal346d ago

They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.

Imalwaysright346d ago

There were rumours that they were working on a Socom reboot.
