Binary Domain Demo Impressions (Goozernation)

The team behind Yakuza is giving gamers a unique experience with Binary Domain. Think of the game as squad based game play meats Gears of War with robots. Binary Domain has enough action to make Vanquish jealous. There is also support for voice commands. Goozernation has the full details on why gamers should pick up this game come the end of February.

Demo was decent, don't like the fact that the game is separated into missions though. like once you finish a mission that "mission accomplished" message pops up & you move on to the next level. Feels outdated.

dirthurts4449d ago

I totally agree. I mean really? Who does that any more?

Flewid6384449d ago

The entire Devil May Cry series does. Bayonetta was split into Missions as well. Batman Arkham City and Arkham Asylum have text popping up that missions are complete.

Mass Effect is also mission based. Etc etc, so on and so on....

@CDzNutts

You didn't get my point. I'd rather get a cinematic & keep going from where I am (arkham city & Mass effect for example) then get a "Mission Accomplished" followed by a black screen & move on to another level... I just happen to hate that shit.

kube004449d ago

So you want it more streamlined.

001854448d ago

Yes, like most games. It just doesn't feel right in BD.

Kyosuke_Sanada4448d ago (Edited 4448d ago )

This game has so much potential in my eyes. They just need to the finishing touches on the voice command recognition. Lots of time I don't even talk and random words would pop up which usually screws the squad over or lead to very hilarious conversations.......

Rachel: There's a sniper!
Dan: F^7%$@k!
Rachel: We'll take care of that later!

Starhawk over Warhawk?...... Dude, NO ONE should listen to you.

Odd choices for "best" more like you settled as these being the "best" that available to you at the time, cause a lot of these blow or were average to poor performers that ended up in bargain bin.

Missing too many great sci-fi titles here. The Void, The Resistance Series, Killzone 2 and 3, Enslaved, man.. there were so many, this is redicu-list.

FreeckyCake12d ago

Nobody should listen to you either with that attitude.

OtterX12d ago

I agree that Starhawk shouldn't be above Warhawk, however I must say that Starhawk multiplayer was incredible for its time! Many people wrote it off bc the single player was quite terrible, bc it was basically 1 huge tutorial for the multiplayer. But I can tell you never spent any significant amount of time in MP. It was doing incredibly tense base building w air, foot and land vehicle (and mech!) combat long before Fortnite was ever a thing.

I bet it would have been much better received if it had just ditched the story mode all together. So many people like yourself completely wrote it off based on reviews by reviewers that let the criticism of single player weigh heavily on their scores. I bet you didn't even play it.

The riddick games are some of the best stealth titles ever, highly underrated

YourMommySpoils12d ago

What games? All recall plating was Escape from Butcher Bay.

Friendlygamer12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

There's also the less acclaimed 'assault on dark Athena'

( also, not saying this to you specifically but there's both resistance and killzone games on the list, it's amazing how even something so simple and innocent as a game list can be turned into misinformed vitriol here lol )

Glad to see Resonance of Fate. Enslaved was pretty good too. I’m sure there are others nobody has listed but I’m too tired to try and think of anything

Sega sells Relic and will cut 240 jobs across UK studios

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."

Shame about Creative Assembly, they should have just been allowed to do an Alien Isolation sequel.

just_looken27d ago

It was that garbage coh 3 that did them in only a special team can make a sequel worse in every way even though it was a 10 year gap and the same era.

gold_drake28d ago

I hope they find new jobs in the industry soon.

Jingsing28d ago

Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive probably run on a shoe string budget so that fits into SEGA better lol
