What's So Great About Mass Effect?

"With all the Mass Effect news buzzing around, whether it be new features or straight fan-bait for the slump in productivity yet to come, it’s a game that one just can’t ignore. With its March 6th release growing near and the February 14th demo a little over a week away, everyone just can’t stop talking about Bioware’s critically acclaimed title."

Mass Effect 1 is one of the best games of this generation. Its original. Mass Effect 2 unfortunately took a step in the wrong direction and I'm not sure about Mass Effect 3.

How anyone can disagree with that is beyond me. They turned ME2 into a bad third person shooter in space.

gillri4460d ago

ME2 is the better game but the best bits that punctuate ME1 and better than the best bits in ME3

The talk with Vigil or Sovereign for instance, watching the snow storm outside the foyer while you in Noveria. Going to into the bunker in Illos and seeing all the life capsules

Why is it so good? Well I cant be bothered to reply. you can make an article about an amazing game with the tagline 'Whats so great about.......'

Redempteur4460d ago

i disagree with the statement above
Mass effect is a nice game with flaws ( lot of them ) even if they lost a bit of cohesion in ME2 , ME2 is clearly a better / enjoyable game.

I dont understand the hate for mass effect 2.
So they downgraded the rpg element, so what?
Almost everything else is better than the first one,
And again, whats so great and deep about the rpg elements in mass effect 1 to begin with?

Bigpappy4460d ago

Some of you are way to emotional. Mass Effect 2 was a great game that could have been even better for its fans if they did not over simplify the item management. To make this game sound like anything other than one of the best games of that year would be just plain wrong.

It really wasn't that good. First game I've ever bought and never finished. Got bored of it holding my hand the whole way. Dragon age 2 was better and that was a horrid sequel to a great game.

MizTv4460d ago

what was great about me1 is that it was a awesome rpg me2 not so much

LOGICWINS4460d ago

ME2 is an incredible RPG as well. They obviously toned down the RPG elements to appeal to more people...namely me ;)

Perfect blend of action and RPG IMO. It's the most engrossing game I've played on the PS3 to date.

TheOtherTheoG4460d ago

ME1 was not good because of its RPG elements, I'd honestly argue that its RPG elements, particularly the inventory system, was one of the worst aspects of the game, unless you count the conversation wheel/player choice stuff as RPG elements.

Shooting... Isn't it obvious.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
