What Price for Getting PS Vita First?

Although I dearly wanted to convince myself that this bundle was good value, I had to admit it was just an excuse to get the PS Vita early...

Bibmiester4473d ago

Good point, I'm stuck between getting the PS Vita first bundle or just waiting to get a wifi version considering I do most of my gaming at home and if I do go out I tend to be in a wifi area.. So I'm unsure on what to do

MmaFan-Qc4473d ago

im in canada so the 3G version of the vita isnt included in the bundle(its 299$), btw, at first i had doubt about the build quality of the carrying case included in the bundle, but look like i dont have to worry about it since it look pretty good and look like it will do the job as seen in this pics:
http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/...
http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/...
http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/...

btw my local ebgames is able the get the screen protector on feb15, wich is nice since protecting the ridiculously glossy and awesome screen is the first thing i want to do before having dust or a finger print on it.

the included game Little Deviants will be a snack(will rush it and complete it fast) then i will quickly trade it toward a better vita/ps3 game while it worth it(like trading it for 25$ in credit ..when the game itself worth 29$)

and the 4gb card........uh, let just say that ive already paid/preordered a 16gb card as main memory card and the 4gb one will simply be used to...well..you know, put medias the girlfriend and familly dont really need to see. n_n

so yeah, TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Knightofelemia4473d ago

Thing about the 3G model is nobody knows who the major carrier will be in Canada probably Roger since they sell Sony phones. Telus has picked up Sony phones now but I doubt they will carry the plan for the console. Personally I am going with the WiFi version of the console.

JoeReno4473d ago

I'm getting the first edition bundle. Exclusive case, which is quite good, a game, memory card, and to get my filthy paws on Vita a week early is the biggest selling point for the 1st edition bundle. I had the wifi version preordered, and then switched. I can't wait til 2/15. The 3G is much of an issue and you are not locked into a contract. That was my main concern with the 3G.

Hx3KinG4473d ago

yeah but the 3G plans are stupid! I'm not sure if thats how US network providers issue data plans, but if you only have 30 days to use your data before renewing again then thats just a waste of money!

claterz4473d ago

How much will the data actually be in the UK for the 3G version? I've heard Vodafone are the ones offering the 3G plans but I haven't heard anything about the price. Vodafone 3g data plans for iPad are around £15 for 5GB per month so I guess it will be similar with the vita?

moparful994472d ago

There's far to many bonuses with the first edition bundle here in the states to let something as trivial as the 3g nonesense to sway you from getting it.. I mean count the value. Exclusive case $20, Copy of little deviants $30, 4 gig memory card $20, Getting you vita 1 week early... PRICELESS!

I would like to see them change the pricing structure for the 3g plans 250mb $10, 1gb $15, 2gb $20... This seems like a much better pricing structure..

Most vita users wont use nearly as much data as cell phone users since we wont be texting and making phone calls so it doesn't make sense to charge cell phone prices.. I would pay $20 for 2gb...

Bibmiester4472d ago

Yea I'm just going to stick with the first edition bundle I just don't care too much for little deviants, I really want Uncharted and Ninja gaiden and I'm good to go. Soo the case would come in handy for the 3 games I would have on launch day, eh why not !!

moparful994471d ago

I'm actually excited for little deviants.. Just because its unique like escape plan.. Sony loves to create new IP's and I'm more then happy to take a chance on them.. THats how I discovered God of War, Infamous, Uncharted, Ratchet and clank etc..

eferreira4473d ago

I got the first edition bundle because im getting uncharted free with it

solidt124473d ago

I convinced my self to just get the $249 version also, I need at least a 8 gig card so the 4 gig bundled one would of been a waste and I am getting Uncharted game. I plan on downloading little deviant and I have a ton of games I bought on the psp I will need to download on the Vita. I might as well get the 16 gig card then.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi4473d ago

I was strongly considering not getting the 3g vita.... but now I think I am. I'm gonna be using skype on it alot so it might come in handy.

A relic of its time or a buried treasure from the past?

I was really hoping this would have made it into one of the collections. Like how they did with the GoW PSP games.

VenomUK798d ago

I recall just playing the start on PS Vita but not much more and many Uncharted fans wouldn't have played it either so this 'unknown' chapter could be ripe for an expanded version for PS5.

TiredGamer798d ago

Agreed here. Played it back on the Vita years ago, but never finished. The cramped Vita controls and the tiny analog sticks just didn't gel with me in a game where precise headshots are half the fun. It's the first Uncharted game that I haven't completed/Platinumed, and I think much of it is control related. Really wish it was PS TV compatible (natively).

I would definitely buy it if it were released as a PS4/PS5 version.

YoungKingDoran797d ago

If you ever play it again on Vita definitely turn on the gyro aiming assist, made it alot more fun to play and i ended up getting all the headshot trophies thanks to this- super accurate

TheEnigma313798d ago

I loved this game. It was like an extension of the first one. Why haven't we gotten an HD release yet?

TiredGamer798d ago (Edited 798d ago )

Lack of available dev resources and lack of a lucrative ROI probably. I think Sony has an opportunity to sell it as a separate, standalone HD remaster for like $20. Otherwise, the effort to convert a PS Vita game to the PS4/5 won't be worth their while. Unfortunate, but that's probably the only way it'd make financial sense.

deleted798d ago (Edited 798d ago )

Some of the puzzles/interactivity would have to be completely reworked. I remember having to hold the camera to a bright light. (I remember being annoyed at that part bc I was playing in bed late night while my wife was asleep next to me. Ran to the kitchen at like 3am just to get past it lol)

Also the swipe battles. I absolutely couldn't stand the final boss because the swiping felt so inaccurate and it would constantly misread gestures.

I adored the rest of the game though, and even the story! It couldn't simply just be rereleased, it needs reworking for consoles. (same reason it didn't get PS Vita TV support) The rubbing parts could still work w Dualsense/DS4 though.

I'd gladly welcome it and do hope it happens eventually!

Muigi798d ago

Glad I still have my Oled Vita.

MadLad798d ago

Sony should have tried harder to support the Vita. It ended up just a solid emulation machine that happens to have a handful of classics.

Bigman4k798d ago (Edited 798d ago )

Yeah Sony gave up on the ps vita way too fast

Bigman4k798d ago (Edited 798d ago )

I really like Uncharted:Golden Abyss on ps vita it would be dope if they remaster it for PlayStation 5

Lmao 🤣

Golden Abyss was such a great game, excellent use of the Vita and using the gyros to fine tune your aim down scopes was genius. So much fun.

Agreed.. My Vita went missing some time ago, I just couldn't see how they could move Uncharted to the small screen, but they did a great job. They were in a bit of trouble as Nathan had to take a side -job

doing adverts, to earn a few bob extra. Rumour has it that for the ad he had to do his own stunts as there was no budget for a stuntman.

mikey15939d ago

But could it be done? Its a while now but I seem to recall puzzles which used the touch screen very well, which might be a chore with the controller.. Also the "sniper mode" where you held the vita up and turned it to survey the terrain. Prob why it isn't on PS Now, whilst all the others are[??] Maybe VR/ move controllers are the answer??

Magog939d ago

Dualsense has a touchpad. Sniper mode could probably be tied to the gyro on the Dualsense as well.

Agreed, but with the touch, you had screen + finger touch/move.. However with the touchpad youd be using the pad, whilst looking at the screen.. Gyro would be fine but so would head-tracking, with move if you can see it, you can hit it with 2x hands at once...

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

even the PS 2/Eyetoy camera didn't miss a "beat"

I'd like to see the game anywhere TBH.

CrimsonWing69939d ago

Tearaway was released on console and that made use of the touch screen and the touchpad on the back of the Vita.

gamesftw250939d ago

Could be easily converted to gyro/touchpad use honestly.

Not the part where the finger ripped through the scenery. Or am I misremembering? Like I said my vita went missing a while back when we were doing some heavy internal work/decoration.

This is the type of thing I mean, you could do it or anything like it, but it was more "natural" with a touch screen, as its what you would do in r/l. Give a driver a controller and GT, he won't have a clue.. Give him VR a driving wheel/pedals and I know for a fact he and his wife, wouldn't get off the thing. ;)

Sony...stop cancelling your games FOR 5 MINUTES!!!!***

You cannot cancel what you never intended to release.. From my above link

https://segmentnext.com/son...

***Sony Bend embracing multiplayer should not come as a surprise. While the acclaimed Days Gone was perfect to feature some sort of multiplayer support, it was highly reported that a Days Gone 2 would have had a cooperative mode.

The sequel however was shut down by Sony Interactive Entertainment because of how the first game had a lengthy development cycle and the mixed reception at release. Days Gone 2 was marked to not be a “viable option” for PlayStation 5, forcing Sony Bend to move on to something new.

Whatever Sony Bend has been working on for the past year will be built upon the same open-world technology and features which were originally developed for Days Gone. This was confirmed by head of PlayStation Studios Herman Hulst earlier in the month. The unannounced game will hence have the deep open-world of Days Gone and seemingly a multiplayer or cooperative mode of the scrapped Days Gone 2 pitch.***

They haven’t cancelled anything here…
