Reminiscing about some of gaming's best intro cinematics.

Hey Poor Player's James Davie Takes Us On A Bio-Shocking Deep Dive Into Irrational Games' Nautical Nightmare.
Final Fantasy 8's opening CG is really, really bad. Not quality wise, but it's just a trailer, not an opening.
Introductions have to prepare us for the story, not be the summary of the story and show spoilers. In FF8's opening we already learn that at some point we will fight that sorceress and that Rinoa and Squall will get together at the end of the game. So much for that "Rinoa loves Seifer" in the middle of the game. Why put that in the game if it showed us that she and Squall will get together?
It would've been great if they removed Rinoa and Edea/Ultimecia from the opening and left only the fight between Squall and Seifer. It would be enough to show the things that really mattered in the beginning of the game, instead of showing things that don't make any sense at the time and that we'll learn at the appropriate time later.
God of War 3 anyone???
Gran Turismo 2 intro
im done
Monkey Island 3 definitely for me :D
I love the mass effect 2 intro, the first half hour of that game does a fantastic job of introducing a sense of urgency and really draws you in emotionally, especially if you had played through the first game.
The opening cinematic to RAGE was surprisingly cool too, and who can forget the opening to mirrors edge! One of few genuine 'wow' moments of this gen.
