I'll admit I haven't been this amped about a game since...oh yeah, the one I'm playing now, skyrim. But, I am amped that these two games provide a one two punch for an avid rpg fan that I haven't experienced maybe ever. Also it helps quell my disappointment in regards to swtor, because I don't hav a of to run it & really wanna play it. 4 more weeks and counting.

I'm pretty excited too. The combat looks great. I'm even MORE excited for the Witcher 2 on Xbox though. Sadly I don't have a gaming rig, but I've read that Witcher 2 destroys my beloved Mass Effect in terms of story and choice. I HAVE to play it!

despair4485d ago

Choice yes but story is more a matter of taste, I found it more intriguing but I wouldn't go so far as to say it "destroyed" Mass Effect's.

Yep the witcher 2 Is the other rpg I can't wait for. But I am pretty confident from everything that I have seen that KoA is going to be really, really good. We either get risen and two worlds (not that tw2 didn't hav a phenomenal magic system) or we get skyrim & witcher. I believe this game is of the latter vein. I cannot see how rolston would attach himself to anything less than stellar. He was behind the game design for morrowind and oblivion. I like the action aspect a lot, as long as I get character customization, great leveling and questing and loot, lots of loot. And an epic storyline helps. It appears to be check, check, check, & check. But appearances hav been deceiving before. Just not this time, I'm fairly certain. So certain that I have per ordered it. Skyrim has me on an rpg kick. I have so many games from last year to finish and all I can think about is skyrim and KoA.

If it is an awesome as Dungeon Siege III I'll take a look.

For some reason I thought about this type of game (3rd person action RPG) as a spin off in the Mass Effect Universe. More aliens on screen, vehicles and AoE skills, generally more intense powers faster player and squad movement and generally larger battles. Hmmm...

joab7774484d ago

Actually, that's brilliant. Not another fps but either an action game or an action/rpg. I did read somewhere that me3 is gonna have different settings for heavy rpg/ hybrid/ just story or action. I would love it if they went heavy on the rpg again but allowed others to turn it off or streamline it. It makes everyone happy without screwing the hardcore fanbase. I so want this to b the best one but if it's all story and action that's fast paced, I have a feeling that I'll like it cuz its bioware, but I won't love it.

Looks like fable had a huge influence on the art direction and interaction. There is a lot of detail they had to skip in order to reach the outdoors with in that time slot. I don't rush RPG's so it was a bit un-nerving to watch. I still appreciate what they have shown and hope that they give a demo. I could be done in the same manner (with the 30min time limit).

I've been waiting for this game since I saw it about 6 months ago. Anticipating it even more than skyrim.

Didn't know Rolston was involved till about a month or so ago. What has me excited is R.A. Salvatore writing the story and Todd Mcfarlan doing the art work. Rolston is just icing on the cake.

Indeed a day one for me.

Looking Back at Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning

Do you remember the good old days, when video games put fast hack-and-slashing combat sequences and extensive levelling systems first and a deep narrative with memorable characters second? BigHuge Games certainly banked on gamers holding some kind of nostalgia for those titles of yore with their fantasy RPG Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning.

Best action rpg of its generation. Loved it.

Soulst0rmer2353d ago

taijutsu3632353d ago (Edited 2353d ago )

This is hilarious that i would see an article after I went and re-bought the game and playing it all week! I love the QTEs in this game its satisfying, the combat is fluid where you can switch from weapons to magic so easily, the weapons, armor, quests, character customizations, lore, world, voice acting, are all great this game has almost everything you'd need and want from an RPG!

I really wish there was going to be a KoAR 2!

Phoenix Down 49.2 – Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

The journey comes to an end.

InMyOpinion2891d ago

Would LOVE to see a sequel to this brilliant game. Wouldn't mind a remake for current gen systems either.

Hypnotic2891d ago

Last I heard this studio went out of business so I would think a remaster is pretty unlikely.

InMyOpinion2889d ago

Never say never, Darksiders 2 got a remaster.

phantomexe2891d ago

I think EA owns the rights to it now. I loved the game as well. A rare gem overlooked.

rezzah2890d ago

Went into a cave for a mission...Mission glitches and I can't start the mission or exit the cave...Auto save and manual saves are within the cave....I messed up so bad I quit. Really good game though.

hazelamy2890d ago

such a great game, shame about the studio.
to produce something of that quality as their first title, just imagine what they could have done with more experience.
