Media Create hardware sales (12/26 – 1/1)

Media Create published the latest hardware sales from Japan. The PlayStation Vita gets its second full week of sales.

Numbers look ok, some items dropped but that was expected. Can't wait to see Vita's performance once some core Japan games launches on the system.

They've sold nearly all of their initial shipment and the rest are the 3G models which Japanese gamers do not want. It's nothing to worry about. The media and people are stupid.

The 3ds received a quick shipment after launch because of shortages. How unlikely is it the vita didn't?

Its going to be that way for a while. Even when it comes out in Europe shortly afterwards the sales will drop (like all console/handheld launches) and we will see a million fail articles again. Then comes XMAS where the Vita will have a killer App and it will start selling like crazy just like the 3DS.

The vita gets nothing like that so thats why the psp is selling more

wasn't the 3ds at its lowest point like 20k? then came of course the huge price drop.

I think if they drop the prices for some vita games to 10 dollars less it will sell more. (uncharted- golden abyss is like S50)

Also can't wait for ps vita release for worldwide. :)

yep, before the 3DS price drop, the 3DS was selling below or around 32k for a few weeks, and was getting spanked by the PSP in sales.

Things didn't get better util the price drop.
Nintendo fanboys loves to ignore these numbers when bashing the Vita

Isnt it at this point that retailers are running out of stock? Sony shipped only 500,000 and since launch (what is it 2 weeks and 2 days ago?) they have sold basicly 450,000 of those units. That's still a lot and I am hearing on the neogaf forums that Vita's are becoming hard to find.

Vita's problem in Japan is simple. Sony launched it with no killer apps that appealed to the Japanese market. Usually this is ok, but when your competitor is half the price of your system, and has 3 HUGE mainstream titles coming within the same two weeks (Monster Hunter 3G, Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7), it's going to cause problems.
