Personally I don't there is a console that can qualify as "Best Console of this Generation". Sure this generation has done some pretty neat things but "best" is going a little far out. Each console had its pros&cons/Strengths& Weaknesses

Just keep your original stance x360 fans. It's all about the games. Look at quantity. Look at quality. Look at your MC as it now speaks against you. Instead of laughing and doing your victory dance due to win by default you really should've listened to common sense. All of this was bound to happen.

but ONLY 5 "exclusives" are worth getting: MGS4, Heavy Rain, Demon's Souls, Valkeria Chronicles and Ar tonelico

article writer is fairly close to the mark.the all around best hardware this gen is the ps3.IF...you are interested in drinking sony's kool-aid.and i will say,sony did offer a mighty fine cool drink i might add.but for gamers,it's the truth.

sony offered a system that did it all.even through all the negative media bashing over the years,it still holds true.better hardware and features than the other two competitors.Nintendo offered no movie playback, Microsoft offered last gen movies on what was supposed to be next gen hardware.even released hd-dvd,not to put out hd movies,but to slow Sony's bluray adoption.

sony offered new game engines not using the "GREASY" unreal engine. but it took time to drop the games.now,there are so many games,it's hard to buy them all.sony said gaming on ps3 would be expensive.they didn't lie.gamers just couldn't handle the truth.

sony offers games over marketing dollars.they spend more making games and buying good developers to make those games.not give you games the last two months of the year.not make contracts with developers to keep third party games the same when bluray holds more content.

sony offers above all else,free online gaming.how in the world can some gamers harp on that still amazes me to this day.but when they say ps3 was and is more expensive,they sure didn't count all that money to play online on that other system.

Sony just by themselves have made MORE NEW IPS this gen than Microsoft and Nintendo combined.yet get bagged on for putting "too much content" and "too much variety" out for gamers giving them choices.they get ragged for low sells for a multitude of games.but those same games still end up getting sequels.must have made enough to make those sequels huh?

all around,just from a gamers point of view,sony went all out.even when gamers abused the system to get free content through hacks,sony still went above and beyond and offered more games and more content to their fanbase.it's just an easy win.you don't make gamers wait like nintendo.and you don't close in house developers like microsoft when they have BILLIONS of dollars.

in the worst recession in years,sony seemed to have been able to hold onto all their developers with LESS money.how is that possible?

@Apocalypse Shadow all you said is true, theres no denying the ps3 has been the superia console this gen, only reason its not overtaken 360 yet is cos of price, we are in a recession dont forgot, there will be many parents who bought the 360 for there kids becos of price. it realy is a matter of time before the ps3 overtakes, and wen its at the magic £200 or less thats wen it will really boost in sales, MS already seem to be abandoning the xbox, i cant think of one exclusive coming out for it besides halo 4, i think if sonycan be at a more affordable price next gen and they keep this same stratagy with all the games, the ps4 will dominate, not ps2 dominate but be the better seller overall. the 1 yr headstart by MS really did f*** it up for sony this gen

This is a fact indeed that needs to be stressed. X360 has been around for what 5 years now? That's like 250 dollars spent on online gaming alone. Now add that 250 dollars to the initial launch price of the x360 and you have a hefty pricetag towering WELL above the price of the PS3.

In light of these facts I encourage you 360 people (fanboys) to tell me again the PS3 is (was) way overpriced.....

Sigh....it was way too obvious back in 2005-2008 and here we are with PS3 winning in games (quality and quantity) and sales are bound to turn into PS3's favour soon and after 8 more years PS3 will be sitting up there if not above the Wii. Common sense really but the x360 people sure like to fight the windmills a LOT. Too bad the media had to go all out and discredit themselves by joining in on the biased bashing..... I believe I'm not the only one who has lost a lot of interest and respect for the industry due to what happened in 2005-2008.

I'll add a few as a long time owner.
1) no headphones included. Why's that a good thing? Play just about any shooter and get shouted down by kids or guys "rapping" into the Mic and let's not forget the sheer amount of profanity.
2) no cross chat. Why is that good? Because while its fun to talk to your friends playing different games it sux because noone but the folks that are listed above are actually in game to talk to.
3) the current gaming platform with the least amount of piracy, hacks and online cheating. Before you get all troll snarky with youtube links, I said least. Being short of a tech whiz or at least dedicated enough to spending hours and hours to getting one offline game to work on a constantly changing firmware your times better managed purchasing a cyclo ds card for your ds or torrenting. The ps3 is a beast to crack.
4) move. That's right boys and girls the real hardcore gaming motion device. Ok for instance you don't have to play subhd games with waggle nor do you need to clear out your room for the camera to recognize you. Plus there's more quality games that aren't on rails or kiddy shovelware. Let's see Killzone 3, heavy rain, deadmunds quest or kinectanimals and zelda...hmm maybe skyward sword afterall but you get what I mean.
4) cloud save storage. Nuff said.
5) 3d. Ok ok modern warfare had it as does gears 3. Now go compare that to kz3 or uncharted3. There's a reason Microsoft doesn't tout 3d...even with gears

Best controller & best 1st party developers, which equals very best games for all gamer tastes.
FPS's are covered with Killzone 2,3, Resistance 1-3, Payday, Modern Combat: Domination.
Then we have Heavenly Sword, Demons Souls, God Of War 3, GOW: Collection, GOW: Collection 2, best platformers with Ratchet:TOD, Ratchet:Q4B, Ratchet:ACIT, Sly Collection, Jak Collection, LBP1 & 2, the best arcade racing series in Motorstorm 1-3, Wipeout HD, as well as cart racer ModNation Racers, as well as the definative openworld superhero ip, that is inFamous. Then we have online warfare like that of Warhawk that is so unique that there really is no other game like it, whether on consoles or pc & Starhawk's awesomely unique gameplay looks to bridge that gap even further. Then contrary to peoples scoffs there is the Socom series, Confrontation offers that old school familiar Socom love & regardless of reviews or such, is still an awesome online game since patches erradicated the online problems that plagued it previously, then Socom 4 moves the series in a bit of a different direction, & is bigger, dumber, less strategic than traditional Socom, but is still a helluva fun online game. Then take the Unchartered series perfection of adventure, action gameplay, as well as awesome online gameplay. MGS4 offers PS3 owners more awesomeness, also GT5 & the list goes on, including some of the best downloadable titles available on consoles.

So for me, PS3 wins hands down for best console for having the better variety, quantity & quality of exclusives, as well as the more comfy controller for each & every genre, as well as it's easy to access 3D capabilities, blu-ray movie playback (although not that important), & the undeniable fact that the PS3 is a very reliable piece of hardware. All these factors help solidify the PS3 as the best console this gen.

But ultimately PS3's games is all that matters to me, & because of the games I mentioned & many I'm sure I forgot.

360 controller is fit more for shooter games.

The PS3 controller is fit for any type of game, also since the structure has never changes in shape since its creation proves that people like it the way it is for over 10 years. It's not the fact that it has history, but just happens to be the best in shape, form, and size for any game preference.

Nintendo Never gets it right which is why their controllers are always changing for something new.

Thought the 360 controller is still better than the regular xbox, since the reduction in size it is easier to use.

I know it is your opinion, but I am pointing out the reasons (my opinion) why I believe the 360 controller is less better.

Personally, every time I go from playing my 360 to my PS3 the PS3 controller feels less confortable.

The triggers need more resistance, the analogs (and triggers) should be concave, and the controller shape needs a slight upgrades.

And rumble could be stronger.
