Skyrim 1.2 Patch Coming Week Of Nov 28th, No Mention Of PS3 Framerate Issues

Bethesda has announced on their forums that the 1.2 patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was submitted for certification on November 18th, and should be live "the week after Thanksgiving" for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Unfortunately, the company did not address if the patch would correct the framerate issues that are making the PS3 version unplayable.

The lag only seems to kick in with some heavy lighting duties for me.

AngryTypingGuy4531d ago

Working fine for me so far on PS3, but my save files haven't reached 6MB yet.

Bethesda's Pete Hines confirmed on his Twitter... "On the list for this update is improved performance for long-term play on PS3."

the first patch was 2.0 (go check yourself) so how come the new one is going to be 1.2?

lastdual4531d ago (Edited 4531d ago )

According to Bethesda, the first patch was mislabeled by Sony when it went up on PSN (it might only be Sony Europe).

On every other platform, and on PSN in other regions, the current patch is listed correctly as 1.1.

I'm 100 hours into the game and after 1 hours play the game moves like a slide show when I'm around people in cities or more than 2 enemies in dungeons. The more into the game you get and the worse it gets. When I was 60 hours into the game I rarely had any issues. I just hope it doesn't get even worse.

Also sometimes you don't absorb the souls of dragons you kill. They lie dead with there skin still on. The words on Dragon walls won't reveal themself. You hear the music as if your about to learn the word but nothing happens.

Quests also don't finish. Trust me it gets worse the further into the game you get.

Foolish of me for falling for the Bethesda PS3 scam for the third time. There WILL NOT be a fourth time no matter how good their games look and shame on the foolish reviewers who told me this game ran smooth on the PS3. They helped Bethesda hustle me out of 50 euros for a broken game

jrbeerman114531d ago

wow looks like you got the worst of the worst. sorry to hear that.

I havent had any of those problems, although I am on PC version and I started a new game after my first 40, to roll out a new type of character to keep fresh.

Hopefully the patch will fix your issues as this is really an amazing game, only thing i could say now is to try a new game with new character and just do different quests.

geddesmond4531d ago

Looks like I spoke too soon. The game is near unplayable now. 3 more hours of gameplay after posting that post and my game won't go 5 minutes with moving like a slide show, I contracted the Vampire disease after clearing out a dungeon of vamps and the cure vampire quest bugged out on me. Falion won't respond to me so now I'm stuck as a vampire. I'm gonna loose 20 hours of gameplay because I need to load up an old save and my last one was 20 83 hours of gameplay. I'm pissed off now.

ShoryukenII4532d ago

This is the first game I bought from them and I got it on day one. I'm not experiencing many problems right now and I really love the game but this is worrying. If they don't fix it, I'm not sure I can trust them in the future. It's bad enough that I have to wait a month later to pay them for DLC and that I have the worst graphics. Those I've accepted but this, I can't. I hope the government gets on publisher's asses and consider forcing them to recall in case this becomes too common.

slayorofgods4531d ago (Edited 4531d ago )

Keep the government out of it, especially since you aren't experiencing any major problems, the government has no business to meddle in every single affair that bothers someone. If they did we wouldn't be able to accomplish a single thing in the free market.

Bethesda always releases patches for their games... Just be patient.

BoNeSaW234531d ago (Edited 4531d ago )

"Bethesda always releases patches for their games... Just be patient." Whaaaaaaat!?!?

I'm Still waiting on that Fallout 3 GOTY Edition patch and your advice is to be patient!? YOU SUCK.

vickers5004531d ago

"It's bad enough that I have to wait a month later to pay them for DLC and that I have the worst graphics."

Just do the side missions in the mean time. Do you expect to finish every single side mission before the game comes out?

And worst graphics? I'm playing it on the PS3 and it looks pretty damn good for an open world game to me.

The framerate issue is a bit worrying though, although it hasn't happened to me yet, it happened to me with Fallout 3. But my save file is about 9mb and the game has only crashed on me twice so far. It gets a bit slow whenever I go to Whiterun, but it only seems to be that town.

gypsygib4531d ago

You should have seen Fallout New Vegas, that game was worse than a beta, and alot of the problems weren't something testers could miss.

Kick The Ass4531d ago

I agree, it was a mess. However Bethesda was the publisher on that one, the actual developers were Obsidian, so they aren't entirely to blame :)

vikingland14532d ago

nor does it mention the texture loading problem the 360 has.

fluffydelusions4532d ago (Edited 4532d ago )

That only occurs if you install the game afaik to HD. I didn't install and everything is fine. But yeah, hope that is fixed as well.

monkey nuts4531d ago

Well I installed to my 360's HD and have encountered no such texture loading issues. Knock on wood so far its been the least buggy bethesda game I've had. FO 3 on my ps3 being the worst, I ended up trading it in for the xbox version.

jthamind4532d ago (Edited 4532d ago )

it'd be nice if the game was more PC-friendly too. i have two AMD Radeon 6800s, but i can't run Skyrim on Very High and still have a smooth framerate. yet i can put The Witcher 2, which has far superior graphics as far as quality (regardless of which art style is better), on Ultra and the game runs smooth.

not sure what Bethesda's deal is. seems like they know how to create a great game, but they can't code it well.

a08andan4532d ago (Edited 4532d ago )

I am using

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/...

and before I used that Skyrim used to crash all the time for me :P I haven't experienced a crash since! If u use this you will enable skyrim to use more than 2 Gb of RAM :) I am using a gtx 460 and it runs very smooth on highest possible settings, 1920x1080, and I have a few mods already^^

jthamind4532d ago

thanks! i'll give that a shot, because i've had the crashing problem too. hopefully it'll work for me as well. :)

slayorofgods4531d ago (Edited 4531d ago )

Another fix, related to frame rate drops.....

I actually found out my mouse lagged for this game. I'm thinking this is a more common problem then people realize, people blame frame rate drops when its really mouse stuttering.

Found a fix here,
www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaAu4 tF_X7I&feature=related

I went form med to ultra settings with this fix.

SnakeCQC4532d ago

im using a 6850 and am maintaining high at 60fps disablle aa turn fxaa on and af max with everything on ultra you should be more than fine then

a08andan4532d ago

@jthamind hopefully it will work great for you :) How much RAM do you have? I am currently using 8Gb! RAM is really cheap these days :)

iamgoatman4532d ago

Have you tried disabling Crossfire? Until AMD release a new CAP it's still broken, so you could be seeing negative scaling, hence the inability to play on very high when you should at least be able to run it on ultra and maintain 30FPS.

The performance isn't great though even with a single card, I've seen people with high end GPUs drop below 30FPS in some cases. New drivers and a patch from Bethesda that increases performance wouldn't go a miss.

DonaldBeck4532d ago

so basically they do not want to take away the framerate issues on the ps3, and the texture issues on the 360?

fluffydelusions4532d ago

The two most talked about issues...you'd think they would be addressed first.

DonaldBeck4532d ago

exactly, im a little worried the issues are going to be put in the dark for a long time. either way, ill just play the game i got, and get the best out of it with the version i have.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast10d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22910d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko10d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave10d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan10d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
