"I’m a man of history, but let’s face it; Russia has only given the world three things: Vodka, Tetris and the Faberge egg. (We won’t talk about the Lada automobile or Red Communism…).
"Apart from the profound message embodied within the annals of Tetris, Russia doesn’t give us very much in terms of interactive entertainment.
"The few titles that do come out of The Motherland, though, have some sort of air about them that chills me to my very core.
"So, what exactly IS the deal with Russian games?"
Review - S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky should be seen as an expansion rather than a full prequel, but it is one that fans will enjoy nonetheless.
Metro 2033 mechanics that would adapt perfectly to VR, and the upcoming Metro Awakening by Vertigo Games this year.
The Metro video game series started with a humble b-list title, before building a strong fanbase and becoming a pioneer in the industry.
I agree completely with this piece, there really is something about Eastern Europe games that just isn't right... in a good way, of course.
Whats the deal with russian games, and you mention two franchises.
Seriously? I mean both franchises were effectively made by the same devs, first they made STALKER, then the head devs formed their own team to make Metro.
Its like saying whats the deal with American games, and then naming Black and Bodycount.
fail article is fail.
What about Elven Legacy, King's Bounty, Age of Pirates or Hammerfight? You know games actually developed in Russia not the Ukraine like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro 2033...
Its kinda nice that they most of the time use the cutting edge technology available on the PC and no matter what the sales figures are don't whine about spending so much money behind the PC version. cough ** Crytek , Ubisoft ** cough
I hope they keep this trend up .... eagerly waiting for STALKER 2 and Metro LL ....
What's the deal with games lately in general: so many seem depressing and apocalyptic. Hurray for pure fun adventure like Uncharted!
