Thoughts on the MLG-Madcatz Controller vs. The Razer Onza (Premium Controller War)

K.L. Smith: "In a limited selection of premium grade, Xbox 360 peripherals, I believe that there is market for companies producing high quality products with a targeted focus towards Competitive Gaming. Razer stepped up to the plate and delivered a controller that is, in my opinion, better than the standard Xbox 360 controller for most shooters.

Now enter third-party peripheral giant, Madcatz, and their co-branded Major League Gaming controller. Madcatz has been in the game longer than most care to remember and the vast majority of their products are assembled in the cheapest, quickest manner possible. Twelve years of the “fastest manner possible in cheapest manner possible,” process has arguably given them one of the worst reputations in the gaming industry.

Within the last few years however, Madcatz has attempted to change their M.O., specifically after Mark Julio, @MarkMan23 on Twitter, joined their staff in late 2008.

Now that we have some substance to the story, let’s talk about the controller."

I can't stand using unofficial controllers for any console. I'm not saying that all OEM controllers are perfect..But they always seam to last longer and there's nothing more embarrassing then whipping out a "generic" controller and trying to give it to your buddy to use.

Friends don't let friends use cheap controllers.

Just my humble opinion.

Fair enough, but these are premium generic controllers.

The Onza I know is really well made as I have one.

Can't speak for the Mad Catz one, but I like the interchangable joysticks on it. I might just pick one up for my PS3 as I hate where the left joystick is.

I hate copy cat controllers.. OEM just feel right.. i did have 2 MAD CATZ for my GAMECUBE only because they were cheap and i had 2 original GC controllers already, bought those as extras to be able to play SMASH BROS with 4.. they were only used in SMASH BROS

as for my XBOX.. all ORIGINAL.. i actually have 4 wireless and 1 wired.. (2 xboxes though) and i would not use either of these... i tried other 3rd party controllers at the store and it just feels wrong.. buttons don't press like they should.. sticks are either too stiff or WAY too loose.. even the quality ones, i'm just used to OEM.. though i may pick up one of these for the PS3 because i had the PS3 controller and would like to configure it to XBOX style

Those are one of the best looking controllers from Madcatz.. if they work as good as the SSF4 controller pad then I will definitely pick one up.
