Ok, I know it's too late but here goes.

Truth is, MGS (note, Metal Gear Solid, NOT Metal Gear there's a difference) is for all intents and purposes a recognized Playstation franchise. Just because two "expansions" of the game appeared on two other consoles, doesn't negate that the entire series started, grew, and became great on Playstation consoles because of Playstation users. That's just a fact. You can try to deny it by citing jealousy and fanboyism, but it doesn't negate the truth.

If you look at the sales of MGS titles that appeared on other consoles, you'll see that it wasn't as well received as it was on Playstation. Again, no fanboyism, fact.

That being said, for those upset these games are coming to the 360, you shouldn't be. Watch as MGS will not do so well on the 360 as it will on the PS3. It's been proven with previous games that were former PS exclusives selling better on the PS3 than on the 360. Companies simply have to learn the hard way, but in the end they will make money off of this.

I seriously doubt that this collection will boast real success on the 360, especially based upon the trolling of MGS4 the 360 userbase was prone to.

Other than one or two fanboys being a bit upset that the 360 is getting this collection, 99% of people here are just happy that we are getting such a great collection. if this is the 25th anniversary of "Metal Gear" where is the info on a Metal Gear "Rebirth" that has been rumored? Konami has done the gradius and contra rebirth games for wiiware and they are seriously fun throwbacks to the old days.

Metal Gear was as much a part of the NES days as it is now for the PS fans. A metal gear rebirth mash up of the original and part 2 would be awesome in retro style.

As for this HD series coming to the 360...will it be on a single dvd or will there be multiple discs? We can assume the ps3 version will be a single bluray.

I'm a little bummed they arent including the first MGS game in the box set.

Personally, I am actually kind of let down that MGS1 is not included, it feels incomplete to me as such, I would rather MGS 1 2 and 3 than peace walker, that said it was the controls that stopped me from beating peace walker so I will be pretty happy to get a full run through, I just think MGS1 felt more fitting

Because they would have to put it on way to many disks for one and two they would have to rewrite the script and have the voice actors come back and redo the takes since there are many jabs at the 360 in the game.

If you're patient enough to wait for a game that probably won't even come to the console, then more power to you, but just know that you're missing out on a crucial part of the series - and one of the most epic pieces of the puzzle!

Sadly MGS4 probably won't see the light of day on any future console, since Kojipro are moving on to bigger and better things. MGS4 is already in HD. There's no rush for it to be remade for the Fox engine, or ported to 360 or its successor.

MGS2 was already on the XBOX...MGS3 wasnt and neither was peace walker obviously...So much for the exclusivity ! I for one was so stoked for a MGS HD collection, like really...SO STOKED ! I'd prefer MGS1 over PW but well, what can you do. I think they are still selling the first game on PSN as a part of the PS Classics, and that's probably why it was not included in this package. I bought a PSP just to play PW and sold it after I beat the game, it was a lot better than Portable Ops in terms of gameplay but the maps were so small when compared to MGS3&4 that it almost felt like it was another game than the MG franchise. This is awesome, I never got a chance to play the other MGS games. Too bad MGS1 is not included, but I'm glad they added in Peacewalker. With the Spinter Cell HD collection coming this month, and MGS HD coming in Q4, this is going to be a stealthy gaming year for me.

Just because these games are going to 360 as well, does not mean the next major MGS game will not be a PS exclusive. Kojima knows the limitations of the 360 and if he wants MGS5 to be technically better than MGS4, bringing it to 360 just isn't an option. Though I'm glad 360 owners can play these games. Many people who played MGS on PS2 bought 360s and never bought PS3s. This gives them the chance to play Peace Walker which the 360 will easily run. If bringing these titles to 360 does not result in the PS3 versions being dumbed down, then there's no reason for PS3 owners to be unhappy. PS3 is still the only console where you can fully experience the MGS series because MGS4 is and will always be a PS3 exclusive. For this generation anyway. The Wii 2 might have something to say about that though.

For those of you fanboys that thought that the metal gear/metal gear solid series grew up on the ps1 I hate to break it to you but the series has been released on multiple consoles since it's inception which was way before the playstation.

In an ironic twist of fate the series first released on the msx/msx 2 in which the msx/msx 2 console was conceived by Kazuhiko Nishi, then Vice-president at MICROSOFT Japan and Director at ASCII Corporation. The msx/msx 2 was manufactured by many companies(like the 3do console), most notably one of the msx console versions was manufactured by none other than SONY. So fanboys before you start another useless bicker match consider the fact that both microsoft and sony had a hand in bringing this series to the public in some form when the series first started. I am not defending either company because it is stupid and serves no useful purpose whatsoever. I am just informing the ill-informed and teaching others something that they might not have known.

I've heard a lot about this franchise, so I'm considering buying this collection. However I've never played the first metal gear and since this collection only contains 2 + 3 + pw, will I still be able to follow and enjoy the games?

All ps3 consoles play ps1 games, so either buy a hard copy version of metal gear solid for ps1 or a digital version copy of metal gear solid for ps1 and you will be good to go. Don't worry though metal gear solid is so popular that there are plenty of hard copy versions of the game available at good prices, so you wont have trouble finding a copy of the game for a reasonably good price.

Get solid one first, it's dated on technical aspect, but imo best one with number three, snake eater. The rest of games don't make that much sense in story if you don't play the first one. If you own Gameqube, it has the best version of Solid 1.

Finally Peacewalker available for homeconsoles, and daaaamn, MGS3! I fricking hate it that my PS3 don't run PS2 games, but now I can finally play that classic again^^ Now I just need remake of Silent Hill 2...

Oh, and what happened to MGS1? I would be happy if we could just get the uber gameqube version of the game for PS3.
