Unannounced Bethesda game being revealed soon?

SystemLink: "I'm pretty much assuming that only one Bethesda title dominates your horizon for the time-being; Skyrim. It's big, bold, brash, brooding, bloody, brilliant, and slightly belated (We've been waiting 5 years for a new Elder Scrolls). However, this narrow-mindedness may all change very soon."

Well now I'm excited. I'll never get to sleep tonight. Think of other people before submitting articles like this.

Hope it's a new IP, Fallout needs a break and Skyrim is on the way.

shiner4702d ago

It's not that Fallout needs a break. It's just that New Vegas should never have happened. Next year would've been a perfect time for a new Fallout game, but with NV out recently it seems too soon.

I don't think this is about Fallout though.

mistajeff4702d ago

I don't think New Vegas should've not happened, I think they should've given Obsidian 3-4 years with a new engine instead of 15 months with an old, rusty one. I love New Vegas, but like most Obsidian projects, their ambition didn't have enough resources to breathe.

The tweet in question is likely referring to a new game being *published* by Bethesda, not developed by Todd's team.

For instance, Bethesda acquired Arkane Studios (makers of Arx Fatalis) a while back, and have yet to announce what they've been working on. Could be something like that...

Agent_S4702d ago

After Wet, Rogue Warrior, and most recently Brink. Im a little cautious when it comes to Bethesda published games. That being said I think Prey 2 and Rage are shaping up to be stellar games.

trainsinrdr4702d ago

the only bethesda games worth getting ssequels are the elder scrolls and fallout series all their other ip's suck

TheLastGuardian20104702d ago

Easy there chief, them there is some fightin' words.

HighJump314702d ago

Fallout 4 on the new Skyrim engine? Yeah...I'd accept that.

ATiElite4702d ago

Fallout 4 on the Frostbite 2.0 or X-Ray 2.0 or A4 2.0 or CrysEngine 3 or Source 2.0 or Id Tech 5 Engine. Yeah.......I'd accept that.

MONOLITHICIDE4702d ago (Edited 4702d ago )

Excellent NOW GIVE ME FALLOUT 4!!! Still play Fallout 3, so much fun to be had. All I want is the level cap to be extended to 100 or something. Why cant I be they all mighty all powerful of the Capital Wasteland.

AngelicIceDiamond4702d ago

Fall Out 4 is possible, but a brand new series is even better dear god the anticipation is killing me.

They need to make a showing at E3 now. If you love you're fans its mandatory you make a presence.

Im glad he leaving. Bethesda has been terrible under his leadership. Redfall, Starfield, Fallout76 and the list goes on an on. His leadership style is outdated. Hopefully, MS bring someone in that knows what they are doing.

RhinoGamer88182d ago

I will give you Fallout 76, but Redfall and Starfield's blame needs to fall somewhat on the terrible Xbox publishing team. With all their resources and supposed smarts...they fungled it.

VenomUK182d ago

@Mika He’s the communications guy - you can’t blame him for the quality of the product.

jznrpg182d ago

Maybe they can go to their earlier purchases for replacements . Like Rare devs , Gear devs or 343, one of the very few studios they built up and man they are great.

Crows90182d ago

That could work ...if MS knew what they were doing themselves ...

But let's be real. Xbox was in charge of redfall and Starfield. They just don't know what a good game looks like.

RhinoGamer88182d ago

I interviewed at Bethesda once, and while there were some very smart mid level team members, the upper ranks (EP/VP/Studio Head) were a total boys' club. The Madmen series ego in that lunch was stiffling.

Pete Hines was against locking out the majority of their console playerbase (ps gamers). Probably disgusted at the hypocrisy of white knight Phil assuring PS gamers that they can still play COD. Acquisition goes through, Hines goes out.

Goodbye Pete.

gold_drake182d ago

i wonder if he was asked to leave.

im pretty sure not everyone was on board with the acquisition.

Profchaos181d ago

Pretty much everyone outside of Todd has made snide comments against the acquisition but money talks

A developer shouldnt rely on modders to make their game playable, fun or interesting

Despite being one of the most popular video game releases of the year, Starfield is already getting a lot of backlash in the four days since it has been out. The highly anticipated space RPG from Bethesda was finally launched into orbit on September 6, and naturally, the title has taken over the entire gaming galaxy, for better or worse. Leading up to its awaited release, the developer claimed that its latest title will be a “modder’s paradise.”

PC is an interesting place for modding and weird. Gamers have definitely made many games better by adding better textures, better character models, animation, adding features that weren't there or even creating new stories.

But it's also embarrassing that the companies that make the games couldn't be bothered to make the best damn games they can right out the gate. They are the ones that have the high budgets. Should be a given. Nope. It's gamers that have to show the way and how it's done.

Like I said, interesting and weird. If that's the case, these developers should be paying the gamers.

BlackDoomAx216d ago

They don't. They don't even need to finidh it, or to make it work properly. They just need to hype it before launch and hope enough people will buy it. Rinse and repeat every year.

anast216d ago

Modders are passionate artists and Bethesda abuses this. Like I said, they should make an RPG maker game, it would be less sleazy of them.

Black-Helghast216d ago

name it Bethesda Game maker and give us all the tools of ES I - V & Fallout 1 - 4. they can even give us New Vegas & starfield tools as a DLC. I'm telling you, they'd make billions.

PRIMORDUS216d ago (Edited 216d ago )

Maybe the bulk of our money spent on games for PC should go to the modders. I mean, they release games that are not ready, and leave it to modders to fix them, and some like Starfield leave options out like HDR and DLSS. I'm losing respect for most PC developers lately.

Giblet_Head215d ago

Bethesda Softworks hasn't been a "PC developer" since Oblivion. They've half-assed ever since.
