Nothing exists in Infamous 2 just because, and that’s something developer Sucker Punch should be commended for. When combined with how well-executed just about everything in the game is, the overall package is one of PlayStation 3’s best and a must-play for fans of the first game. Don’t be deceived by niche subject matter like I was when the original Infamous first came out. This is a rock-solid third-person action game with an incredible story, great characters, meaty gameplay and – above all else – a string that effectively ties everything together.

I wasn't going to get this game on day one, but now I am because developers like Sucker Punch DESERVE it.

If only Killzone 3 was a worthy successor to Killzone 2 like Infamous 2 is for Infamous 1. Hopefully Guerrilla Games learned their lesson.

@Ksense - Multiplayer? In Infamous 2? While that sounds okay, with electric/fire/ice dudes jumping everywhere and all, Infamous 2 is a single-player game. So, yeah, I'm looking for reviewers to treat it as a single-player game. The user-generated content stuff is awesome, but that isn't really multiplayer, it's shared creativity.

You're not going to see a restaurant losing a star in a review because there just wasn't enough snowboarding. You didn't see reviewers marking down Final Fantasy 6 because it didn't have Multitap functionality. You're not going to see Infamous treated like Call of Duty. Did you even read the article?

@GrieverSoul - Yes, definitely, when compared to other PS3 games graphics-wise, it's looking like this one's up in the top tier; of course, that's because Sucker Punch has had time to improve on their past work, on an engine they originally built from the ground up. Colin didn't have anything that would bring the score down, which seems odd, but he said it looks "great," which would typically mean something in the above average range, or the 8's.

I know reviews have seen a ton of grade inflation over the past 10 years or so, with IGN leading that move in the past, but it looks like Colin (not IGN, just this guy, as Clank explains below) is following the actual scoring guidelines at the moment. He might be scoring graphical fidelity overall, compared to any system, including high-end PC's, but I'm not sure that's the case either.

chill out bro. I was not asking for multiplayer in Infamous. Did you even read my comment? I was talking about IGN reviews in general. Just take an example of Killzone 3. The game got docked points only because it had a weak story. The majority of gamers look at killzone as a multiplayer game so shouldn't the reviewer give it more importance than judging the game just for its single player experience but that is not the case with IGN. Homefront had a decent campaign but it was short and so it got a really low score.

All I am saying is that IGN gives more importance to the single player experience no matter what.

Multiplayer in inFamous wouldn't be as crazy and out of place as you make it sound. Provided the developers wanted their game to have multiplayer or co-op, I'm sure they would do a fantastic job of implementing it into an inFamous game, and it would feel natural.

But inFamous doesn't NEED multiplayer, although I'm very interested in seeing Sucker Punch giving it a shot at some point in the franchise. Given inFamous's universe, they could make it pretty unique and badass. But that's another dream for another day, and inFamous 2 is almost here, so I'll enjoy that.

CoD runs at 60 fps (BSP based coridoor shooter type engine). Also, if they were taking into acount it's graphics on the PC it could be boosted up a bit, but 10/10 wouldn't make sense because plenty of games look much better on PC.

Whenever the reviewer (who happens to be an individual with his or her own preferences, by the way) doesn't care much for a game that a lot of people like, everyone treats him or her like shit, and says they've been paid off by Microsoft.

For example, I don't like the Killzone games, and would likely give them low scores on a review simply because they don't entertain me. However, I love the hell out of the Uncharted games, and would give them very high scores because they are extremely entertaining to me.

Point is: Reviewers are individuals, not the gaming population as a whole. They review based on what they feel, not other people. If you don't like that, then you are a sad individual.

That is the most controversial part of the review. What you should do is watch the content, listen and read the review for yourself. That's why this game might be my game of the year. Microsoft should be embarrassed so far this year with their games coming out compared to the amazing amount of games PS3 has already had. The only reason I've cancelled my pre-order for this game is because Alice: Madness Returns, Ocarina of Time 3D and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition come out in the same month and I can't be spending another £40 on top of that until I'm 100% sure it won't destroy my funds. Ocarina of Time 3D - I'm a huge Zelda fan and can't wait to play a remake of the game with far superior visuals to the original on my shiny new 3DS.

Alice: Madness Returns - Looks like a solid platformer which I haven't had the fortune of playing in a while. Looks extremely appealing to me.

Super Street Fighter IV 3D - Lets not even get started on the fact that Street Fighter IV is my favorite game this gen of which I've pumped over 900 hours into. Arcade Edition is one of my most anticipated releases of this year.

InFamous 2 looks fantastic, but given the fact I never played the first game, and have no attachment to the franchise as of yet, I'd rather spend the money I have at my immediate disposal on games I KNOW I'm going to enjoy. For the type of sandbox game that it is, It seems it should have scored more than an 8.5 in the graphics department. then again its expected from ign these days. I have the hero edition coming my way and ill b the judge wen i play it

Infamous 2(score 9) is accepted as better than Infamous(score 9.2). WTF?

And the only negative was the supposed wonky camera? Oh, please....

9 is good but 9.5 is even better if not a 10.

Stop looking for lame excuses to deduct points, IGN and show some consistency. Otherwise, you will continue to lose credibility with many gamers.

There tends to be a sequel rewarding bias that goes on - say when a company makes a good first game, but doesn't achieve the critical/sales status it should have - the Reviewers make up for it in the 2nd game. I feel Infamous 1 was in that boat kind of.

Look at Mass Effect 2 reviews, Portal 2, Uncharted 2 - and the original Bio-shock was a big homage to system shock.

lol with that being said I'm looking forward to Infamous 2, I'm not saying it's bad I haven't played it, but do question it.

Also I'm still bitter about the 8.5 they gave Killzone 3, that game surely deserves at least a 9, very few are up to par with Guerrilla. I'm guessing the reviewers held personal dissatisfaction with KZ3's very limited online multiplayer demoing for early reviews against it.
