So how are the jets going to work anyway? Like 1942? OR will you just get one pass on the map? I am really interested in this. The Zero was like crack for me. I usually forgot all about the war raging on the ground and was hunting Aces the whole match.

BF2 had the F-35, and yeah, you could take off vertically. But using hover at any other time was suicide. It was also realistically unstable. It's not like in "True Lies" where Arnold just hovered there, turning the plane and lighting stuff up.

And VTOL aircraft are nothing new. The F-35 is not the first. The Harrier has done it for decades.

Airplanes are a nice addition as long as they don't become a pain in the ass to try and destroy.

I take it you never played Battlefield 2 before?

The Battlefield series has almost perfect balance. If your a good pilot then yeh a jet fighter can reap havoc on the battlefield but there are many many tactics to take out a jet that keeps the game balanced.

my favorite is a tank round to the nose cone, BAM YOUR DONE!

So you can imagine how pumped i am for Assult Horizon.

Really? Good pilots were nearly impossible to shoot down, they would fly high and dive to kill AA before you could even get a lock on.

Only way to stop them was by having a decent pilot on your side.

Well, the best way to take a jet down in real life is with another jet, so that makes sense to me. They did patch it later on in BF2's life to make AA more reliable. That killed the game for me. A jet should be powerful. But like you said, if theres another good pilot on the otherside you have a lot to worry about other than griefing people on the ground lol.

I posted a answer on a MW3 discussion saying that buying MW3 instead of BG3 is like buying a 5 year old car with a new paint job, rims, and a wax job versus a brand new 2011 model for the same price. this guy said he would buy the 5 year old car along with millions of other people just cuz it's COD. It is too bad. However, I did love UO back in the heyday of COD. The tanks were a lot of fun. I am not sure why COD got rid of the tanks.

I'd only expect to see the jets in the PC version. It would be nice to see in the console version though. Just hope some ass with a M95 doesn't shoot me out of the cockpit so he can fly the jet for 20 seconds before he dies.

Loved jets in BF2. My best round in a jet was a 98:2 kill ratio. the 2 was me hitting the mountainside while strafing, lol.

They said everything is going to also be in the console version. The maps will just be smaller, player limit is 32. But yes, there will be jets in the console version as well

From my understanding the console version's player limit isn't 32 but instead 24 (12 v 12) just like Bad Company 2.

Jets will be in the console version. Remember, even in BF2 they can fly outside the normal map boundaries to provide more space. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they were slower on consoles.

The F-16 inside looks amazing. Vehicles r one of the many reasons, I'll be picking up this game :D

With the F-22 and F-35 being the hot new jets i'm not so sure the old F-16 is gonna be one especially with the Russian SU-35 Super Flanker which will destroy a F-16 in aerial combat. F-22 is the U.S. answer to the SU-35 which surpassed the Su-37 which rivaled the U.S. F-15e which I can see being in the game.

The proposed F-35 are replacing the F-18 super hornets and F-16 Fighting Falcons but the F-18 is such a great plane that I can see it in the game.

anyway the pick-up trucks with the .50 cals or AA guns in the back are my all time favorite. I find myself smiling every time I see the Libyan Freedom fighters riding into battle in a half ton pick-up loaded for bear. Slap a confederate flag on that truck, add a 24 pack of Natty Ice and you got yourself a southern fishing trip. LOL

Jets in frontlines and bf2 are wicked lol i wonder if we will get planes going sideways from lag lack of vehicles in cod sux i compare cod to unreal 3 its an arena shooter but not as good cod3 still my fav no perks ,perks are stuffing this gen lol.

Nothing like hitting a fully loaded one with an rpg :). Or sniping a pilot out of a helicopter. As a player who doesn't use vehicles that much (I prefer shooting them down), these r the glorious moments that vehicles add to the game.
