Planet3DS.de held and interview with Nouredine Abboud from Ubisoft. It answers questions about the gameplay if Driver Renegade 3D will be more like Driv3r aka Grand Theft Auto Clone or more like the original Drivers series. So can you get out of the car and shoot or not?
Executive producer Nouredine Abboud explained that, while Wildlands was about the world, this is about the characters within it.
Wildlands had an extremely generic and throwaway story (like all recent ubsioft games) so we'll see. They hyped up the first wildlands' story too so I'm not convinced. The last ubisoft game with a good story was Splinter Cell Conviction
Quiz time: You are sent in a helicopter with your team to the enemy territory to investigate an alleged criminal activity. Your helicopter is shot down and most of your team is dead, the rest scattered across the map. When you wake up you notice you're still in the helicopter wreck hanging upside down. The enemy is chasing you. You are wounded but manage to escape. Then you meet an old guy with a map. You embark on a journey consisting of picking up flowers, chatting to some generic NPCs, finding items almost evenly distributed across the map, driving any parked vehicles that are never locked and skipping one cringeworthy dialogue after another.
The tile of the game is:
A) Ghost Recon: Breakpoint
B) Ubisoft Default Game Template
C) Far Cry 5
D) All of the above
Massive size and depth are two clear elements in Ghost Recon Wildlands. The things you can do seem endless and the game's visuals look exquisite.
from what i saw with the Digital Foundry analysis........, HELL NO.
@smolinsk
yeah, the beta on ps4 pro, and digital foundry analysis is on retail version/ps4 pro and pc too.
the graphics are not really that great even on a high end pc. i do hope the final product is a lot better than the beta.
is funny how some developers that aren't first party developers of Sony talked in how they are pushing to the limit the console but probably don't have ice team support, but putting this thing aside Wildlands it does look pretty damn good( the open beta on normal PS4).
The Division 2.0
Been a long time now since Ubisoft has put out a really stellar game. FC3 was the last to come to mind. I'm pretty much good on ALL of Ubisofts future titles. Give us something innovative and quit tarnishing franchises with the idea that massive coop scale is going to be awesome. Frankly it's not and Grand Theft Auto did a way better job years ago.
I dunno I thought Far Cry: Primal was pretty good. That was the last Ubisoft game that I really really enjoyed playing.
But that could of just been because it ditched the guns and stuff for more primitive weapons.
Not just that but also ac syndicate which was really good and watchdogs 2 that was great
Rainbow Six Siege is pretty amazing. Not a perfect one and it lacks many things that made the series awesome, but the multiplayer is tight.
Pushing the limits of what Ubisoft are willing to do more like.
Expect downgrades and beta type glitches day one.
I'm not buying this til reviews hit, the beta was rather good though, parts of it reminded me of the awesome Mercenaries game for some reason.
Doesn't Ubisoft say this for like every new IP they develop. I can't help but chuckle when I read statements like this or the new COD will reinvent the series ones.
This is the first Ubisoft title in a long time that I just didn't like at all, it feels so janky and unfinished.
Im torn on this one. But i might just wait 2 months and see if they put it on sale like Watch Dogs 2 lately.
I like ghost recon but im going to wait and see if patches fix the issues people are talking about
To me it feels like an Xbox 360 game. Draw distance is impressive but the clunky and bad animations feel last gen.
That is the huge problem I can't stand. That and I can't stand 3rd person over the shoulder cameras. I like my characters zoomed out and centered in the screen. The melee is atrocious too.
After what I saw in betas and Nx gamer and digital foundry videos this game wont even scratch the surface of PSPro power. Look at Horizon. I am sick of EVERY other developer saying that they are pushing limits on ps4 or pro or xbone
Its extremely insulting to gamers that companies like Ubisoft think they can show us a game months before release looking all amazing and then drop a broken game on us on launch day. Because of them I NEVER pre-order games anymore and because of them I never trust pre-game hype. Release the game, let the critics have a go at it and if its good ill buy it. Lets stop being conned people.
PUSHES LIMITS??? Of the PS4 pro yes but not of the game engine. . If the so called ps4 pro pushes the games limits then they couldnt even begin to do a PC version.
When does the final release ever actually look better than the Beta visuals, its a myth. That beta is as good as its going to look. Splinter cel Blacklist form LAST GEN and 4 YEARS ago is a far superior coop to anything seen in that beta, so begs the question...wtf Ubi?!
Ghost Recon Wildlands takes place in the massive open-world of Bolivia. Gamers will be able to turn this expansive land into the playground of their dreams.
GTA:O says "Hi", to this wannabe tactical shooter which is actually a run n gun shooter
Well it depends how you want to play. I play it very stealthy and try to use my Squad in different ways. If you want to run and gun, thats up to you.
Ubisoft is a joke. I'd understand this statement if they came up with Horizon Zero Dawn or even said that about For Honor but for Wildlands they just copied The Division into the setting of MGS5 and are seriously calling this a game "like no other"?
hey Ubi ....even the retarded can say that you just copy-pasted MGS V ...adding realistic equipment-scenarios , cursing obnoxious females and 4 player coop doesnt a make a game prototype
I like Metal Gear 5 and Wildlands seems to be a little similar.
GTA is too realistic in story which makes it boring
i did and it still is.
the game has its major issues, i should not be able to kill someone with one headshot while it take 10 bullets to kill me.
I shouldn't ahve to worry about shooting enemies from a bush and them knowing exactly where i am in the bush. the guillie suit should actually work!
you want tactical gameplay, go play Socom and them come back to this BS division in the woods
I did. Still too easy. This isn't a ghost recon game just like future soldier wasn't.
They've veered so far from what the franchise is.
I started playing ghost recon on the very first game. This isn't ghost recon.
GTA:O isn't a tactical shooter either. Why are you comparing the two when they are nothing alike?
Oh right, only GTA online has the right to exist as an open world run and gun game.
No, but because this game is as tactical as GTAO. It's practically a run n gun shooter with gimmicks to make you feel you are working tactics, while in reality, the AI sucks, you are OP, you can run n gun. This game is as tactical as Assassin's Creed was a stealth game
Wildlands is tactical and strategic you obviously didn't play on ghost mode and have no intentions on buying the game so why are you here, don't compare this game to gta online totally different gunplay is better and the map is literally 3 and a half of gta's map including the water
Does size matter if 60% of the map is empty? Really? Dammit, no wonder the game developers do not put effort into intricately making the world, when people are satisfied with half hearted work.
As for difficulty, no, I didn't play on that, but on Hard mode it is a run n gun shooter, so that makes me think, how difficult ghost setting will be? Nah....
Gunplay is better? Don't kid me. They literally took it up from Watch Dogs 2 which had taken up the shooting from GTA V. Also the driving in Ghost Recon is just p*ss-poor. Don't really care about world size if they are going to leave most of it empty.
I know I'm off topic but I need a little help
Can someone recommend a non biased tv review site?
I just got a 65" Sony Bravia x850d. My intentions was to buy the ks8000 but the guy assured me that the Sony tv was the way to go but damn near every single review I can find online says the ks8000 is the best led.. I'm thinking of bringing it back for the ks8000.
Don't buy sony they are over priced and use the same exact pieces that samsung use, get a samsung or lg
Get the KS8000 and nothing less (for the price at least). The Sony IS good but the KS is just better...especially for HDR uses.
www.RTings.com is a great site for reviews and you'll see that by their testing the Samsung KS8000 (and higher series) are only really bested by LG OLED TV's.
Believe me, both a close friend and myself bought TV's recently and researched for weeks. KS series hands down if OLED isn't doable.
Edit:
RTings Review for the 55 inch version of your TV:
http://www.rtings.com/tv/re...
They're review for the 55 inch Samsung KS8000:
http://www.rtings.com/tv/re...
Nearly everything is better with the Samsung. Better contrast, better color, better HDR, better and brighter backlighting, better input lag.
The guy you talked too is either a liar or VERY uninformed.
Playing with a friend was a lot of fun. Was good on the hardest difficulty. Its not a perfect game, but thats not a great reason to cry. Its a game thats fun with friends. Im not sure its a great sp game in anyway but thats fine.
@TheOptimist That's exactly what a friend thought it was of the gameplay I showed him from E3 last year.
So you think GTA:O is comparable to Wildlands? Aside from being online there really isn't much in common at all. Not in feel, look, vibe, story, design...Nothing.
The thing that is common, is that both games (In GTAO heists) require minimal tactical operations. In Ghost Recon, tactical is not a need, it is a want. You are not forced to be tactical, you have to be tactical to look more badass, not do the mission efficiently and that's where Ghost Recond fails miserably. In tactical games, tactics should forced on the player so he/she doesn't run n gun, not the case with this game.
How DARE they appeal to both the run and gunners and the stealth enthusiasts at the same time!
At least GTA allows player to choose b/w fully FP or third. Ubi forces shitty FP when game could have been a decent TP option for players.
You're so full of shit. Wildlands is nothing like GTA Online and is FAR from a "run and gun" shooter. Even playing on medium I was constantly getting gunned down by enemies I hadn't even spotted in some cases! No, this game is not that easy...even on easy. And this is coming from someone that's been a Clancy fan since the beginning and has been playing these games very WELL for years.
While this certainly isn't the most tactical or realistic Recon game ever it's certainly no casual dude-bro shooter like you're trying to make it out to be.
"It is clearly a fact no other game is a pure military shooter, an open world and has this fully seemless drop in drop out coop." Title is misleading but it's true no other game is like this.
I wouldn't say it's misleading, just that 90% of the people looking to pick a fight are going to take it the way they want. "A pure military shooter, an open world and has this fully seemless drop in drop out coop.", is what GR Wildlands is, so that makes the title valid.
Me personally, I enjoyed the beta and I am looking forward to playing with friends on the 7th. It's not a GR game like I wanted, but it seems to be a better experience than The Division, but time will tell. I didn't go all in and do the "season pass" nonsense this time though. The co-op is what makes it worth it to me, that and it's similarity to FarCry 4, which I enjoyed but wished for more players in co-op.
Same here, I want that military coop action and for it to be in a massive open world with different environments. What more can you ask for? And after updates and patches to fix things that may arise along with dlc it's going to be fun im sure of that.
I do agree, but not that its anything similar to Far Cry 4. I went back to FC4 after the beta because I wanted just a little more sneaky action, and wanted to try the coop with keys of kyrat, with my friend who I played the Wildlands beta with.
Far Cry games havent been serious since 2, and they lack a complete layer of stealth and tactics that Wildlands had. The only things that are similar to GR:W, were the way open world worked (raiding outposts for missions/equipment), the quirkyness and some awkward AI behavior/mechanics (like them being limited by draw distance to relatively close to your location), and that they are both Ubi games, so they share similar open world tropes.
As a sidenote, I do wish Far Cry was much more serious similar to Wildlands, and wanted Wildlands to be even better, but the way it currently is, is fine.
Arma Wasteland is not only like that, but it's probably a much better game too
Drop in and drop out coop with a open world was saints row 2 even mercenaries 2 world in flames had that.
Or you can play mgs peace walker 4 player coop
drop in drop out coop has been around for a good 10 years mgs 5 would have also had this kojima had it made it was in early bulds but konami rushed that game thats why you see it now in mgs survive.
none of those are a military shooter in an open world with coop. they said that is what their game is and it's correct. yes each one has part of that but none have all of that. It's like saying you have the best smart phone because it does all of this stuff in one device. then someone else saying it's all been done before on other devices. Yes but not all in one.
I only played an hour of the beta so my impression is limited. But in that time it felt like i was playing far cry 4.
farcry didn't give me 3 AI team mates on my own, and when I had a friend join me we couldn't be apart for any real distance. Now the closest I would say would be dying light. It had drop in drop out with 4 players and was in an huge open world but wasn't a military shooter.
People are questioning the far cry comment due to the multiplayer aspect. I think its therefore to better to rephrase it as "far cry with 4 player co-op"
Yes, but it is still largely comprised of other games' features (GTA Online and Just Cause 3, maybe along with Splinter Cell for stealth element) . I wish they continued GRAW though!
There are plenty of mp games out there. I love coop and this game gives me that.
This game gets a lot of hate, but I honestly think it's due to the amount of handholding the game has "on" default. If you turn off all the hud stuff, and play tactically with friends, communicating and spotting objectives, it's a very rewarding experience when you complete a mission. Really just depends on preferred play style, but I'd recommend turning majority of hud stuff off.
I played the open beta this past weekend and the game is the typical Ubisoft game, plus getting from point A to point B its sooo boring.
is it still awesome tho when you play alone?
cuz i did, and the AI sucks, standing in front of a enemy hiding behind a barrel, doesn't see him at all...
It's most definitely at it's best in co-op. But I had some fun alone also. Adjust the difficulty up and use your team to do some sweet sync shoots.
I also had to use the drone's capabilities more. The same with the rebel support.
But I personally wouldn't buy it if I did not plan to play with other people. Be it friends or strangers...
i was on the highest difficulty,
It was the closed beta, never got around to trying the open beta because of the BS in closed
Reminded me of MGSV,Just Cause and the Pandemic classic Mercenaries : Playground of Destruction.
The beta reminded me of a slew of games.. It had a strong MGS V type of feel with the obvious co-op added.. It feels like Farcry/Just cause in terms of landscapes and map stuff.
I played the beta for a good amount I'd say but I didn't really progress that far. Kinda just messing around. I also only played solo with the 3 AI partners.. I never played with friends.. I noticed the banter among the AI and your character. I dunno if it becomes repetitive at any point, but I got subtle hints of what made BFBC2 good in the eyes of many.
I really loved the outfit changing and how you could store outfits and switch on the fly.. I would always be in my tactical gear and then run over to the bushes/weeds and switch into a ghillie suit. haha. I can't think any games that let you switch outfits and appearance on the fly so quickly.. Usually you gotta go to a certain spot in a safe zone or something.
I guess The Division.. but that's just the obvious Ubisoft connection in my opinion. It didn't really feel or play anything like The Division to me personally.
and like someone else mentioned Mercernaries.... I dunno something about it had more of mercernary for hire vibe rather than an elite tactical "ghost unit"..
I dunno I definitely had fun with it. and I know the true potential comes from playing with 3 other real people. That opens the door for crazy amounts of possibilites and funny shit to happen.
I originally wasn't going to get it but after playing the open beta I'll probably go ahead and get it sometime later this year. I just picked up HZD so I'm not going to buy anything brand new for awhile.
It's appealing and reminds me of older ghost recons. Problem is it's Ubisoft and the lies and greed with it.
Millennials will be quing up though
The only thing I would say comes close to this with up to 4 player coop, drop in drop out and open world is Dying Light, but it's not a military shooter, no team AI and not 3rd person.
I had a great time with the Beta. I only play games on Single player and I loved all the other GR games (except Future Soldier) but it would be nice if you had some better squad commands, thats what really made the GR and RB6 games for me.
Orders are too cumbersome in the heat of battle. You hold the order wheel open, have to select the order with the stick and the angles are so close together its fidgety and then hit X. When youre getting shot up and want to call them to you it takes too long to stop and do that. "Go to" is always highlighted, but "regroup" is a hassle, I would often trun too far and then the order disappears and you have to turn back and dial it in. Too time consuming. If theyd assigned the orders by opening the wheel and then hitting a face button, you could call them to you with 2 button presses in a millisecond and it would be a lot more intuitive. R1 Cross "go there" R1 Triangle "Regroup". Much better system. Keep the support group orders with the stick if you want as you have more time to use them anyway.
I also remember one of the games had Zulu commands. That meant you could issue any order, no matter how complex, but they would wait, until you hit the Zulu button. So you could be on the other side of the map and go in, hit Zulu, and coordinate your strike with perfect timing.
I know this game is made for co-op because (sigh) all anyone cares about is multiplayer these days, but these games for me were about observing, using your AI squad and executing a well made plan. I would love a few simple changes that would still let players like me have fun in this sandbox, because honestly, I think it looks pretty good, and the potential is there for a great single player game. Overall the AI is pretty decent. They did give me away once very early on and I thought that was going to be a real problem, but it didnt happen again.
Call me Ubi, I cant make your game play a lot better. I have notes.
Liked the beta, but it still felt like a just cause/division hybrid :)
Ugh. Ubisoft.
You may as well just say "Here's another generic, broken pile of s**t, please give us your money because you're too stupid to pick up on patterns. See you next game!"
Neither is Horizon Zero Dawn and I guarantee I'm going to completely forget this game. I don't like the way the games feels the movement, the gunplay...Basically the overall feel of the game. I love how tactical you can get with a group of friends but I played the beta and I just wasn't feeling it. I feel like I'm playing a PS3 game when I play Wildlands.
Honestly I think Future Soldier and Advanced Warfare spoiled me.
I'd say ArmA 3 is a pure military shooter that includes co-op in an open world. It also has vehicles, a large weapon variety and PvP modes on top of solid mod support.
I quite liked the GR beta, but it's not as unique as it claims to be.
Sorry but I downloaded the demo and watched my son play (while I took over at times). After the first hour of the game watching every single civilian walking past me look likre the same guy I stole a car from an hour ago... I just gave up on it.
It was basically a cookie cutter game. Putting a little bit of all games into an open world concept and slapping some very repetative AI characters to interact with.
I loved the beta, can't wait to play the retail version tuesday.......this game is very refreshing to the shooter genre, I love approaching the objective the way I want and planning how to finish it etc...
I like the game but it feels to familiar to other games currently out which isn't a good or bad thing it jus depends on the person who picks up the controller not everyone is ganna like it. It's a solid game in my opinion much better than the division
Who cares game is fun. Keep hating at the end of the day most will buy it no matter what they say
Ubisoft has been losing it lately, I won't preorder any ubisoft games anymore. All their games are uninspirational open world games with roughly the same things to do over and over. Playing a ubisoft game longer than two hours feels like a grind and kinda numbs you down to a gaming zombie stuck in a gameplayloop that's long overdue. I hope this is better though, but the division has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. God how I managed to play that game up until lvl 20 is still a mystery to me.
I actually kinda liked it - just like For Honor, but between Horizon and Mass Effect, I'm pretty booked for now.
ha thay are many just like it, all the other ubicrap online bro fests that came before it.
i haven't played this game for me to comment truthfully but i feel like GTA Online heists would be better than this..
There aren't any other games like Wildlands because other games are generally near completion when they're released.
Thank god it is the only one .... cause we don´t need more crap like that..
https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Ubisoft has lost a customer forever here... I will never buy ubi games and will influence everybody I can... enough of broken games...
Hope it won't be as boring as Asphalt 3D...
Looks to me it will be. But also could be a nice wreckless driving game like open world Burnout. I love Burnout!
I hate Ubisoft Games. But Assassins Creed is good :P
Ubi-Crap, no thanks!!1
