Why Modern Warfare 3 is Doomed

Modern Warfare 3 is not going to be able to replicate the brilliance of the first two games. The King of the FPS is going to fall. Here is why.

I wish Activision pushed Singularity as much as they do COD. Singularity was an ACE fps. And COD isnt doomed to die, just slap a Moidern Warfare title on any half-assed FPS games followed by the number 3, and the zombie masses will buy it like their life depends on it.

RBlaze4833d ago

The game is doomed?!

Activision could dump in a gamecase, stick 'Modern Warfare 3: Ltd Ed' on the front, and sell it for more than standard RRP and it'd still shift millions! Hell, they proved that with Black Ops!

Vip3r4833d ago

That's what they've been doing since WAW was released.

awesomeperson4833d ago

I hope so much that very soon people will realize how overworked COD is.

Black Ops attracted new players, theres about 10 of my friends who recently bought a console and Black Ops and all they have played is B.O. Its a waste.

It takes some people 2 or 3 itterations of the same game reskinned for them to realize what it is.

The problem with the horde of zombies is they always like to cling onto the same game their friends are playing and that wouldn't be so bad- if it wasn't COD fueled by Activision.

guigsy4833d ago

Isn't Fallout New Vegas a reskinned Fallout 3? Isn't Assassin's Creed Brotherhood a reskinned Assassin's Creed 2? And do you criticise people for buying those games? Of course you don't, because as usual CoD gets singled out.

Black Ops is actually a great game and brings several new features to the table (Wager matches are awesome), but because it has "CoD" in it's name people take an instant disliking to it. I'm actually kinda glad it sells so well because it really infuriates people like you.

Pumbli4833d ago

Thank you guigsy! Black Ops may have it's faults but imo it has a great campaign and wager matches are awesome.

CoD haters can hate all they like, I'll still enjoy the occasional Black Ops game.

MidnytRain4833d ago (Edited 4833d ago )

Well, to be fair, as of yet, there are no plans for Fallout 8 or Assassin's Creed 8..

farhad2k84833d ago

@guigsy

You are the man. That's a great response to all of these CoD haters.
Some people still enjoy the game, because I own the PS3 version and I have no problems at all. I think it's on par with CoD4 (my opinion).
I know for a fact Modern Warfare 3 will beat Black Ops record of sales, and I'm glad.

JeffGUNZ4833d ago

I agree, Blacks ops Is the best COD next to COD4. I have the 360 version and my friends and I have experienced no problems with it. People just get mad because this multiplat game, that isn't known for graphics, somehow continues to produce the best online experience and continue to push more and more sales.

From what I have seen, it's typically fanboys, from both sony (KZ and UC) and Microsoft (Halo) who continue to bash this game. Believe it or not, some people take this shit so serious that if their exclusives don't outsell COD, the flip out and pout like little children.

Why do a lot of you that hate this game keep commenting on it? Isn't it a waste of your time? It's not going to influence those of us who enjoy it nor has it done ANYTHING to reduce sales, (As a matter of fact, sales CONTINUE to climb). Just let it go, let the people who enjoy the game enjoy it.

COD fanboys remind me of Apple fanboys. They will buy anything new that's put out even if it sucks and far better options exist.

JeffGUNZ4833d ago

Please. I am tired of this "Apple Fanboy" crap. I have used numerous smart phones, through business and personal use, and I can easily say that the iPhone is the best smartphone I have come across. It's much more user friendly and reliable then any other phone.

I have one apple product, which is the iPhone. I have a PC because I just don't have the extra cash to buy a Mac. Yet, I am still smart enough to realize that the MAC is far superior in performance and protetction then PC.

Take a look at the Apple TV. Find me something that is more user friendly and performs as equal or even better than that.

Apple knows what that are doing and they do it well. There is no reason to hate on a company who excells. If it weren't for Apple and the iPhone smart phones would not be as superior as they are now. Apple redefined the smart phone and that competion is healthy for business and in the end, the consumer gets the best products possible.

edgeofblade4833d ago

The only zombie mass here is the zombie mass that hates on COD for being popular. Being a counter-sheep is still being a sheep.

They have a formula that works, even if it doesn't work for you. The REAL question is whether or not the new franken-developer will be able to turn out a quality product on par with the previous iterations.

sadly I disagree. The name call of duty sales regardless. Just look at black ops and what people said after MW2

nick_gamestribe4833d ago (Edited 4833d ago )

Yeah it will sell no doubt, but I think the quality is going to start to flag. No matter what people say, the recent COD games have all had the gameplay to back up the sales.

gorebago4833d ago (Edited 4833d ago )

It won't be doomed, just boring.

The mp is crack though

plb4833d ago

Hard to say given it's difficult to stay connected to a match long enough....

...migrating host...lobby closed..

gorebago4833d ago

I'd say 95% of the time I've had flawless matches with bo on both consoles so I don't know what your talking about. That's my experience with it. Yours could be diff. The other five would be the host migration taking too long and then quitting or with the ps3, it would be loading a new match but never leave the load screen, it always reading, "waiting for players" or something like that.

Again this is just me and I enjoy it immensly. Wouldn't call myself a fanboy but someone who likes to play videogames (in ref to something you posted above).

"...currently ho-humming its way around Metacritic with a score of 77"

This quote shows everything that's wrong with video game reviews. The scores are way too inflated. Since when is a 7.7/10 "ho-hum"? Compare with Imdb. A 7.7/10 is a good score. An 8.0/10 gets you into the Top 250 movies of all time.

There are only TWO movies with an average score of more than 9/10. Which makes sense, considering 10/10 equals perfection. And nothing is perfect.

But video game reviews are different. Very different. AAA exclusives get 9/10 by default. Anything below 7/10 supposedly completely sucks etc.

nick_gamestribe4833d ago (Edited 4833d ago )

Completely agree with you. Sadly, Singularity was a commercial flop, probably due to reviews around the 7/8 out of 10 range - definitely goods scores, but not high enough for people to look at it over COD or Killzone.

Ultraplayerxp4833d ago

Maybe this is what the franchise needs. A little reality check for the devs. You can't just screw around and release a crappy product just cause you know people will eat it up.

Call of Duty Players Disappointed by $80 B.E.A.S.T. Glove Bundle Deal

Recently, players of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone were met with a new bundle featuring the B.E.A.S.T. Glove, inspired by King Kong's armament in the Godzilla x Kong movie. However, the $80 price tag attached to this themed accessory left many Call of Duty fans feeling underwhelmed.

Morons that allow themselves to be milked continuously by this company is the definition of irony.
Spend more $$ and you'll end up In easier lobbies so you win both ways when ya spend that cash

Controversy in the COD community feels like it happens within an alternate timeline. Activision will take the piss with something, there will be a momentary fuss about it, and then they will forget about it and carry on anyway. Repeat this cycle literally every year for the rest of time.

Gridknac7d ago

They call that a crack head! Thats what this is really about, its an addiction. People who dont smoke cigarettes look and laugh at the addicts that spend $8-$10 a pack, but they cant help themselves, they are addicted. That same analogy applies perfectly to the whole MT industry. Only an addict that was not thinking clearly would spend this kind of money on something so frivolous. A round of multiplayer provides the same high a person gets from scratching a lotto ticket, or putting money on a sports bet. MT in general need to really be regulated because you have a generation of kids becoming adults who grew up only knowing the MT era of gaming. Its normal to them and they will in turn teach their kids the same by just being a gaming parent and getting their kids involved with them in gaming. Thats why no matter how ridiculous the headlines keep getting out of the MT industry, it never seems to fade or go away.

X-236d ago

I'm so tired of hearing about what they're doing with this game, its never going to change and it's never going to value the consumer over money, furthermore the people who engage so heavily in the microtransactions I guess allegedly are having a blast and can't wait to do it some more this year when the new version of the game drops.

Cheech And Chong Are Coming To Call Of Duty Because Everything Must Be Consumed

The famous comedy duo is the latest example of pop culture becoming one big grey blob

Christopher22d ago

Certain to have some sort of reference to their online store for CBD/THC chews, which is advertising heavily online the last month or two.

Sciurus_vulgaris21d ago

The randomness of the multiplayer characters is one of reason I quit playing COD after briefly returning in 2022. We got Space Marines, rappers, tree monsters etc. all in a series called “ Modern Warfare”.

OtterX21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

I think if there was ever a time for a competitor to rise up and take away some of Call of Duty's thunder, the time would be now. A military shooter that takes itself seriously, not sold out to Fortnitism. Easier said than done, I know... but the time is ripe.

I can't stand this stuff either.

Palitera21d ago

There are tons of MP shooters that make no profit, if you're looking for one of those

fsfsxii21d ago

You guys have been saying this shit since 2009. Fortunately, nobody’s bringing down cod anytime soon, if ever.

crazyCoconuts21d ago

I agree. I really didn't like how the silliness takes away the gritty origins. That and all the crazy effects... dunno. I'm still playing it but I'd love for someone to steal their cheese and cater to grittier players

OtterX21d ago

@fsfsxii It's not so much wanting COD itself to die as it is wanting this silliness to die. Like CrazyCoconuts said, it takes from the grittiness. Many OG COD players want a straightup Military shooter experience, not silly costume time at Carnival.

is this what the kids want these days a pair of iconic stoners who were big in the 70s and have kind of held on I enjoyed their movies decades ago but I never recall the movie where cheech infiltrates a enemy base while chong snipes for support guess I must of missed that one

Man I'm getting to old for this

Knightofelemia21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Cheech just looks so wrong in the picture.

Profchaos21d ago

Why just why. cod up in smoke

anast21d ago

They charge too much for a game that is kitsch.

MW3 missed its easiest opportunity to give us some of the best Call of Duty maps ever made

From Bootleg to Black Box, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 made a heartbreaking mistake by not remastering the bizarrely forgotten maps from its namesake.
