one things for sure Sony needs to show they can ban consoles that are abusing online games and regain control of psn

the time of release of a new patch and the time it takes hakers to overcome it are going to be the deciding factor. imo

i think if sony can go outsie the box a bit here it's doable. For example just recode psn to need an encrypted handshake to log in then make a key that can b changed easily weekly or as needed.
Tho obviously im no techy id do hope they can do something.

ps i have a jailbroken ps3 since we bought a new one for xmas... playin snes on our big screen is epic fun lol
since its the kids we keep it offline n having our games backed up so they dont touch em is cool.

Screw long term. Short term it's ruining my gaming news with the plethora of articles clogging up the Internet instead of focusing on real gaming news that supports gaming.

Nothing in these articles is considered new. We've seen tons of articles on how hacks do and don't affect us and what it means for the industry. We can't do squat about it, though. Well, unless one of us just happens to be the judge in charge of the trial.

Nobody is saying that aren't going to do anything. What they are saying is that there is LITTLE Sony can do about it.

No, it's not. The most Sony can do is create white/black lists for software and employ some sort of network based monitoring. You cannot patch a key that is used for every piece of software and game on the PS3.

So I don't benefit from being able to use my PS3 as a media hub capable of playing a plethora of formats on my TV? Or playing emulators of old NES/SNES/etc.. games on my TV for some nostalgia fun? Or being able to use it as a computer in my living room running Linux hooked up to the big screen?

This PS3 hack doesn't affect me at all. NOT ONE BIT. I'll keep playing my games on my 360, and my blu-rays on my PS3 with no problems at all. Can't wait for my HD Loader part 2 to go into affect!

Well if the hacking like whats been going on in CodMW and CoDMW2 starts happening in other games Sony better do some console banning and I mean every last one of them. On the official Playstation forums you have people talking about how they have modded ps3's and use altered code to screw with the games, and if something isn't done I will seriously consider just moving onto PC gaming and just use my Ps3 for the singe player exclusives.

No, stealing requires there to be a loss from one party. With piracy there is only a gain. The developer has not suffered a loss of anything, unless the person pirating was someone who was actually going to buy the game in the first place, but then suddenly decided to just pirate it.
