I bought it and I downloaded it and now I'm trying to install it, and it got to ~40% and then asked for an activation key. Ok, fine, so I go to my Games for Windows Live Marketplace to retrieve the key, I click "View Game Keys", it says "No Keys Assigned" and I can't activate the game.

What a bunch of crap.

Now I have to contact Microsoft technical support or something. So inconvenient. I didn't even really want to play the game but I figured for 10 cents I might as well get it.

MUNKYPOO4895d ago

callahan- I'm also having the same problem

HolyOrangeCows4894d ago

Happy "Free 10 cents for Microsoft" Day, everyone!

ELite_Ghost4894d ago

anyone else have no cd keys?

is this a MS scam?

they better fix it I didn't spend 10 cents for nothing!!!

(don't disagree till u have bought it or search on google)

Same problem. I might call tech support and see if they can sort this out.

This just in from the tech support forums:

Due to the overwhelming success of the Age of Empires III sale, we have temporarily run out of keys to unlock the game. You can still buy the game at this amazing price and you will get/see a key in the next week. When new keys are added to the system you will be auto-assigned a key, there is no need to call support or take any other action from your end. We will post here on the forums when the keys are available and the next time you click 'View Game Keys' for the game you should be assigned one.

Thank you for your patience and we hope you enjoy the game.

ELite_Ghost4894d ago

ok let me know if u find a solution!

callahan094894d ago

Thanks for the update Beefstew! I was just about to contact Tech support myself (didn't get around to it when the problem first popped up for me). You saved me some trouble. I'll just try again in the middle of the week or next weekend.

Beefstew4u4895d ago

Totally! I was thinking about getting this when I saw that it was $40, but now I can get it almost for free =D!

Those bastards always trying to make a profit!

SmokexFFx4895d ago (Edited 4895d ago )

It's sarcasm, I was taking the role of a PS3 fanboy.

Also your "no comment" was a comment, so when you said you had no comment you were acctualy lying because the very act of you saying "no comment" is in acctuality a....alright I'll shut-up now.

dragon824894d ago

What the hell does this have to do with PS3 fanboys?? Comments like that make you sound just as bad.

Speaking of which, I wonder if it'll pay off for them though, the point is largely to get people interested in the service and other deals. Hard to tell how many will stick around.

But at ten cents they'll likely have to sell quite a few to make up for bandwidth and such, if they even could.

JsonHenry4895d ago

I bought it, but it has a long way to go to catch up with steam.

Rush4895d ago

Yeah the service is crappy to be honest, I bought the game but the windows live market place app is awfully basic but at least it's functional.

WHAT!?

Microsoft made a good deal??

Damn, i should look out of my window, SNOOOWING!

That Joke works best when it's not on the internet, you could be on an Artic research station, or on top of a Mountain.

evrfighter4895d ago (Edited 4895d ago )

i thought he was in minnesota ....

hate that place and wish I never have to see it again

back on topic.

M$ is trying to get GFWL installed on more pc's. There's nothing wrong with that. It works. At least they'll see that cheap games = more customers.

@evrfighter

MN was iced last night. Was quite a sight seeing cars trying to drive on the roads. Was like watching bowling balls in the bumper lanes...

Did hell freeze over or something?

ELite_Ghost4894d ago

no they ripped us off 10 cents, when you buy you don't get a cdkey

DeFFeR4894d ago

stfu.

Support forums have had that issue quoted and have a fix in the next few days.

They didn't expect as many people to buy the game as they did, and they ran out of CD Keys... get over it... you just bought a friggen FULL GAME PLUS 2 EXPANSIONS for ten cents...

This seems to be something that NO ONE would complain about (full game, 2 expansions for 10 cents) yet you find a way to be a little bitch about it. Sure, demand exceeded supply - just be thankful your purchase was fulfilled and not denied like it would have been in a brick and mortar.

such a baby.

ELite_Ghost4894d ago

lol u mad bro?

i knew they were gonna fix the problem, when i said "they ripped us off 10 cents" lmfao, i REALLY didn't mean it...
