Hmm I dont know I think Sam and snake are both pretty good to me but I think the hat goes off to Sam not because its on 360 or ps3 but because hes more humanized in the story then snake. Hes lost his daughter hes on the run you feel sympathy for his suffering plus Michael is the perfect voice for him, Snake on the other hand does have some background but come on the story is a little hard to follow sorta like the RE storyline jumping back and forth.

By the way I love how you contradict yourself there monkey you say Snake is the best (Ps3 supporter no doubt) as "Long as hes alive" but before that you said you think he might die! Thanks grifter I know exactly what I said and I in no way contradicted myself. Also I am not a Fanboy never have been (my past comments should prove it) This is just a case of me prefering MGS.
So let me explain, right now Snake is the king and why because Kojima made him. So I think that since Kojima is leaving he will take Snake with him. Therefore Snake will go down as the greatest. I also believe that without Kojima and Snake MGS will most likely suffer in the future. Then SC will have no chance to prove it's supperiority because MGS is NOTHING without Kojima. So comparing Splinter Cell to MGS in the future without Kojima or to an old MGS game will just not be valid.

the metal gear series is way better than the splinter cell series. but if we compare spy vs spy, stealth vs stealth, bad ass vs bad ass, honestly i think sam pwns snake. just my opinion. I'm a huge fan of the metal gear series and i'm considering picking up a ps3 just to play MGS4, but i would still have to say that sam is the spy king. i think splinter cell is truely about stealth. whereas metal gear is more about action, story telling with stealth on the side.

Sam appears in games where the ideal is stealth and nothing but, geting caught gets you killed, its hard.

Snake? you can use stealth and pretty much get through the game easily with only stealth, or you can kill every one easily.....
As well get caught and just hide in a duct and 3 seconds later you can leave...Where as it takes much longer to get the enemy in sams games to stop looking for your ass, and even if you do they are still on a high sense of alert forever afterwards.

Lets see, Sams in a game that in the first 3 iterations had better graphics, sound, and gameplay then the first 3 versions of Snakes game.

I absolutely disagree. Sam fisher is a badass, and Splinter Cell is an amazing game, but nothing can compare to Solid Snake and Metal Gear Solid. The game has the perfect blend of stealth, action, puzzles, great humor, and story. Plus, Solid Snake is a legend. He invented, and defines the stealth genre.

You ever play a MGS game on the hardest difficulty? It's not so easy to kill and get away from people you've alerted. I played SC for about 30 mins and took it back. It was definatly difficult, but I just didn't like the way it played. And the voice actors? I think who ever does Snake's sounds more badass. That's just me though. So, my vote goes to Snake. I think we should have another one for the gayest, I'm sure Raiden would win that sh!t hands down.

I havent played sc:da yet people say its the best one of the franchise but i couldnt shake the feeling when i rented it that it was gonna be the same as the previous titles. I might try to pass it again if conviction is worth it.

I have always admited SC is more real but for me and the majority of gamers MGS presents a higher fun, gameplay factor and better storyline that more than makes up for it.

The MGS series is all about style and in that respect Solid Snake is the bigger badass. Sam Fischer just doesn't compare. I mean, he's more into espionage and relies heavily on stealth. Solid snake, on the other hand, is more like a one man army. He just handles the enemy and in the end destroys Metal Gear. After playing part three of the MGS series I felt that it had risen above its competition and had established itself as a sub-genre within the Stealth genre. It was one of the best games I had ever played on my PS2. So, in summary, MGS is about style and Splinter Cell is about stealth. That being said, I think that the Splinter Cell series has become boring and repetitive. No offense to Splinter Cell fans, but I just didn't enjoy playing Double Agent.

Um, are you sure you played it? 'Cause the camouflage system sorts that problem out. Did you bother with that? Higher the percentage, the less likely you are to be seen? Any of that? I think nearly everyone who tried playing it with the camo system didn't have that problem. I have the game and if you have the camo most suitable for your surroundings (if the camo % is high) the enemy soldiers can be stood right not far away and still not see me. Or, where you crawling whilst camoed up? Wouldn't that add to the realism of a guard seeing you, seeing as, grass/rocks/other don't go for walks?

If you paid attention to it, you'd notice he doesn't turn into a waste bin, he climbs into it. You gonna critisise him hiding in a waste bin now? Similar to how the main guy in Assassin's creed hides in hay? The dirty magazines and barrel are part of MGS's humour which the fans love. These kiddies and teenagers you speak of who are happy with dirty mags and barrels. Would these be the same ones who don't like realism who would like a FPS with brightly coloured armour and guns even though it makes you stand out a mile? Interesting.

back when i had a ps1 MGS was your only tactical ops type of game.
this game was no ordinary game my friends this game along with others
made people think that even games can have that feeling of bring a theater to your own home. This game had the most gut wrenching feeling that feeling when you see meryl on the floor almost dying almost has that same feeling when you see AIRTH dying in FF7. This game and others introduce a story thats on par with most block buster movies can also be in a game.

now comes a long a new comer who goes by the name of sam fisher that introduces much more newer type of stealth (in the pc world a world that i was a part of for along time. this game was mother of all pc games)

introducing new special effects bring forth a new age of lighting effects this game made nvidia rich (pixle shader lighting). nvidia took the money and reinvested it in to making better graphics chips bring forth the 6800 . Sony saw the fame that nvidia had and ask if they can have a graphics chip made with new features but use the same technology that the 6800 had. bring forth the 7XXX series.

Sam vs Snake is dumb, Snake made stealth genre! Snake hands down. Why do you think so many xbox360 owners wish for MGS4 to come to the 360? and why does nobody even care about the Sam's game?

What i don't like seeing is them getting old ........plus why compar snake with sam....snake is in the future....for sam and snake to meet they both would have to get a time machine.

Actually, their games occur at roughly the same time. MGS occurs in 2001 I belive and Splinter Cell occurs in ~2004 so they don't need a time machine.

i personally prefer the sc series for it's super realism gameplay but you really can't hate on snake he is the originator and mgs for ps1 was what open the door for me to get into stealth games.

{ Sam Fisher } for the gritty story plots/stunts the almost realistic use of some of his weapons/gadgets - ( you're always left thinking if these sort of weapons/gadgets are actually used by any secret agent/force that we don't know anything about... )
And then there is the very engaging/engrossing gameplay missions.

Easiest way to look at it is this. Sam Fisher, is a bloke. A highly trained kick ass soldier kinda bloke, but a bloke nevertheless. Solid Snake however, is a born and bred f***ing superhuman. He's not just some dude who took a job, he was born a s*** kicker. Sam Fisher ghosts his opponents and kills them realistically. Solid Snake can hold about 8 weapons including a missile launcher and a rocket launcher, and can literally fill his opponents with magazine after magazine. So in a fight, I reckon Solid has surrealism on his side. Thus, I vote Snake.

But Splinter cell is the better game imo. I prefer my realism, and the multiplayer on Chaos theory is the best multiplayer game I've ever played, and I mean that.

I'll start this by stating that I have not read anyone else's comments, I'm just late to the party and I don't want to sit here for half an hour before I type this.

Snake is the bigger badass. Sam Fisher has more of a badass attitude, but Snake has him on the whole actually BEING a badass thing. That said, I think this is still kind of a copout, because Sam Fisher is still one of the most badass heroes in video games. We've got Snake, Kratos, Master Chief, Dante, and Sam Fisher....and then everybody else. To even be on that list, and not part of the everybody else category, is quite an achievement in and of itself. Long story short, compared against almost any other video game hero, Sam Fisher wins. It's not his fault Snake is on a whole other level of awesomeness.

As they face off, far off in the distance, Kratos (with Sword of Olympus in hand) smiles. :P

Snake and Sam come from two different worlds. Snake comes from an Anime-esq sci-fi world where every enemy has a supernatural power and his missions are always world threatening. Sam Fisher is straight out of a Tom Clancy novel which attempt an "as close as possible" aspect of reality. Sam's enemies and mission, while diverse, never quite reach the scale of Snake's. Persoanaly I believe if Sam Fisher was placed in Snakes world he would probably die very quickly.

first: without mgs stealth genre game there will no splinter cell and let be real solid snake a legend unlike sam, and by the way metal gear solid redefined the stealth genre and is revolutionary game unlike splinter cell which are boring and repetitive and the only reason we doing this is because mgs is on the ps3 and splinter cell on 360 and your 360fanbot have no life, just because you don't like the ps3 are saying splinter cell better right wtf that why you wish mgs4 come to the 360 but its never going to happened so have fun with your wannabe snake, as we play the real solid snake on are mgs4 on our true next gen conson

Dude has remained solid his WHOLE career. As for Sam, well... well he's a fuggin transient hobo that tears up sandwich shops and probably steals deli meats to replinish his health instead of first aid kits.

I guess after 3 games Sam just got tired of tactical espionage. He looks sloppy and tired now, like a Silent Hill main character reject.

Ubisoft really gave this guy the long shaft and its a shame what they did to the SC franchise. WTF were they thinking?

Sam Fisher = almost seems so real situations, very experimental to producable weaponry/gadgets
Snake = ultra-fictional story plots, super-human strenghts, concept only weaponry/gadgets
Both very good games - gamer preferences: semi-realistic or pure fictional storylines
