damn they all doing good and most likly going to get beter with holidays and dont for get grandturismo.

lets hope for the best.

looks like ps2 is still saling hard.

master_of_ownage4949d ago

The truth is, the 360 has been, and continues to outsell the PS3 in the US.

Yes, worldwide is a different story, but that is not the title of the article.

And if MS is able to get people to buy replacements, good for them. People are still willing to buy them, so they must like the system.

Will PS3 eventually take over? I think no.

Oh, and I own both...I prefer the 360 for games (Xbox Live dominates), and the PS3 for blu-ray movies.

Dance4947d ago

xbox is outselling the ps3 worldwide except for japan

morganfell4947d ago (Edited 4947d ago )

Enjoy that little dream while it lasts. Especially the part that depends on numbers from known dartboard calculator, vgchartz. It will be interesting to watch them invent excuses when the real numbers are released. These are the same people that claim the official numbers are wrong.

Fiscal numbers are coming at the end of September.

Adva4947d ago

199 Vs 299. Mass market price is $199. Plus, I have been seeing "Get Xbox Arcade and get a $50 Gift Card", now "Get Xbox 4GB and get a $50 gift card" for months now.

Sylmaron4947d ago

But PS3 is gaining ground in an impressive way. GT5 may prove to be crucial. It's wise of Sony to sell it in a PS3 bundle.

GreenRingOfLife4947d ago (Edited 4947d ago )

Even Halo Reach is already Number 2 with only 1 week omg

It would be number one if Wii sports wasnt in the bundle

Wow amazing 360 and Reach are unstoppable...

edit: HMM god of war 3 behind Wii Sport Resort and Wii fit plus... it was the biggest game of the year for Sony though?

but thats ok because god of war 3 was amazing wow great game and I play games not sales

Triella4947d ago (Edited 4947d ago )

@Dance
You're wrong in Europe PS3 is outselling 360, in the UK both consoles are quite even but in the rest of Europe (France, Italy, Spain, central Europe, Germany, and even Scandinavia) PS3 is now largely ahead.

cobpswii36004947d ago

The Ps3 has sold more OVERALL this year. America is not the only place that sells Ps3.

The Ps3 will takeover. Gran Turismo 5 guarantees that.

Oh, and I own both...I prefer the Ps3 for games (PSN dominates. Free FTW), and the 360 for collecting dust.

Trizard4947d ago (Edited 4947d ago )

I am unsure as why people disagreed with you. You stated facts in an orderly fashion without out bias, and only until the end did you state your opinion and clearly label it your opinion.

jony_dols4947d ago (Edited 4947d ago )

@ Dance, The PS3 overtook the Xbox in Europe back in May 2008.
The 360 had an one and a half year start in Europe, and it was still behind by mid 2008.

Get your facts right. PS3 is ahead in Europe,Oceania,Japan, and the rest of Asia.

The only reason the 360 is ahead of the PS3 in America is because the Xbox is an American brand.

e.g. I live in Germany, and I can honestly say that 90% of cars on the road are German built, with the exception of the odd Ford, you rarely see an American car. Same story in the US, when it comes down to consumers buying a console.

Anon19744947d ago (Edited 4947d ago )

Master did tell the truth. Where I think people disagree with him is at the end. "Will PS3 eventually take over? I think no."

That's really quite surprising in the face of the evidence. The 360 has struggled for some time now, with 4 out of the last 5 reported quarters showing year on year declines while the PS3 is showing nothing but growth worldwide, even in the US where NPD numbers show the PS3 is up 40% jan-aug compared to last year. The 360, which at it's peak had a 8.6 million lead over the PS3 has now seen it's lead shrink to 3.3 million according to official data.

So while the 360 might have received a boost with the temporary price cut on old 360 models, they were behind worldwide by 1.6 million consoles for the first 6 months alone this year and Sony has forecast 15 million PS3's sold for this fiscal year. Microsoft for the first time has refused to make shipping forecasts to their shareholders this year, but they've cut back production by 40% and most analysts are predicting just over 10 million 360's sold for the fiscal year worldwide.

If you think the PS3 won't catch up, you just haven't been paying attention. And the 360 price cut isn't permanent. Even if it was. last time they cut the 360's price it only equaled 2 quarters of sales growth and then 4 quarters of back to back sales declines. While the 360 has enjoyed a brief bump due to a temporary price cut - is it enough to hold off the PS3's advance? Given the long term data, it's very doubtful. The PS3 has outsold the 360 worldwide head 2 head since it's been available worldwide. Sure Kinect might change the game, but I seriously doubt it.

And also remember, this is VGChartz. For the first six months of the year, they tracked the 360 30% higher than official data from Microsoft, and from Jan - Aug their numbers for America are 20% higher than NPD data. Considering NPD and Vgchartz are supposed to track the same thing with their American numbers, you know something's wrong when VGChartz end up being 20% more than NPD for the same region.

ColJessup4947d ago (Edited 4947d ago )

Wouldn't be the first time Microsoft dumped old consoles on the market for cheap to blow out old stock. Sony to, for that matter. Of course a flood of cheap consoles is going to drive console sales, but just because there's still old 360's out there doesn't mean they aren't the ones behind the sales spikes. We've seen it time and time again. Console modifications aren't what drives sales, price cuts are what drive sales.

@ Triella

Please provide a source that proves how much further ahead the PS3 is in Europe.

lelo2play4947d ago (Edited 4947d ago )

@jony_dols ... 2 articles from 2008!!! and the other has no mention of X360 sales in Europe.

Microsoft pointed out at June that the X360 had 41.7 million sold (official numbers).
If you take out Japanese sales ... 41.7 million - 1 million = 40.7
If you take American Sales 40.7 million - 21 million = 19.7

Microsoft sold 19.7 million X360 in Europe and rest of the world beside Japan and America.

Sony sold 16 million PS3 in Europe according to your article.

The question remains... has the X360 sold more or less then 3.7 million (19.7 - 16 million) in the rest of the world (beside Europe, America, Japan) and when Sony presents European numbers do they include rest of the world numbers beside America and Japan?
You guys can make your own conclusions to who has sold more in Europe.

jony_dols4946d ago (Edited 4946d ago )

@lelo2play:

I gave you 2 solid sources to show you the point when ps3 first surpassed the Xbox in Europe.

Hmmmm you really are quite stupid aren't you. Those 19.7 million are for the rest of the world sales aka Europe,South America,China,South Korea,Australia,Central America,South africa and New Zealand.

Those 16 million PS3 sales are from Europe alone, and its dated from August, so add on at least another 400k to 1 Mil, to bring it up to end of September.

Ignorance is Bliss. Twit

DS - 4,775,838
Wii - 3,765,992
360 - 4,383,114
PS3 - 4,932,611
PSP - 912,622
PS2 - 722,992
PS Move- 1,920,288

Dead Rising (PS3)- 1,772,971
Dead Rising (360)- 1,223,831

Debate these numbers......This is what Vgchartz does.

OR wait for OFFICAL numbers, or stop caring about them all together.

MicroSony4Life4949d ago (Edited 4949d ago )

I thought it was a fad at first but no way in hell does a fad last as long as the Wii and DS have been selling.

Move and Kinect should be intresting but I dont think Nintendo will let the casuals go with out a fight.

Book mark my comment - Nintendo will release a new console next year that caters for both the casuals and hardcore.

360 monthly total sales have been significantly more than PS3 since the slim launched, before that PS3 total sales were consistently beating 360 this year. I have both systems and don't know why consumers are picking 360 over PS3, was a redesign that important? They still play the same games.

Adva4947d ago (Edited 4947d ago )

For Xbox owners, it was very important that they get the slimmer version.
For one, it doesn't sound like a jet and 2nd, it is more reliable.

metsgaming4947d ago

yea alot of 360 owners went and got a slim, even the ones whos 360s werent broken yet, they knew it would happen soon so they got the new version.

baodeus4947d ago

@metsb

Then how about PS3 selling more when the slim came out?

Baltis4947d ago (Edited 4947d ago )

Sony has an image problem in the states. They're just not resonating with the consumers like they did in the 90's and early to mid 2000's. They are slowly becoming the Sega of the industry and in order to change that they're going to need a new perspective.

They try to do too many things but never do any One of them to the fullest potential. Home anyone? Psmove? PS+? Come on, guys. Sony is struggling to establish an identity and going about it the wrong way.

Edit to the guy talking about GT saving Sony.

It won't. It'll sell about 60% over 5 months. Which is good, but it's not going to change anything for Sony. Sony's game has been played. Microsoft and Nintendo are the dominate suppliers now. And, as history has always showed us, there is really only room for Two manufactures in the console industry. There just isn't room for Three. The difference between having a console and not having a console is coming in in 3rd place. Know what I mean? 1st and 2nd place in sales is what matters. Not 3rd.

GoldPS34947d ago (Edited 4947d ago )

You all wrong.

Edit: Why not say the same for 360 in Japan.

Reply to Baltis edit: Wow do you hear what you saying. Do you remember the Nintendo Gamecube? It was 3rd place last gen. It didn't stop Nintendo from making another console. I can't wait til the PS3 past 360 in sales so people like you can shut up.

Nitrowolf24947d ago

"And, as history has always showed us, there is really only room for Two manufactures in the console industry"

lol, look at Wii
also if this guy wants to talk about history, as history has showed us the last 2 gen is that Sony always reaches the top.

DaTruth4947d ago

"Sony has an image problem in the states. They're just not resonating with the consumers like they did in the 90's and early to mid 2000's."

No, it is just that Americans have gotten really patriotic since their country began falling apart at the seams! But look at the bright side; buying 3-4 360's each is great for the economy!

"The difference between having a console and not having a console is coming in in 3rd place. Know what I mean? 1st and 2nd place in sales is what matters. Not 3rd."

You mean like the original Xbox 24 Mill units sold.
Microsoft came back with the 360 even though it was
in 3rd place last gen.

Or how Nintendo got dominated the past 2 gens by
Sonys PS1&PS2 and then came back and its dominating
with the Wii both the 360 and PS3...Also last time i checked the PS3 was 3.5 mill behind the 360 from the
original 8mill+ when it launched on Nov of 2006.That
to me seems like the PS3 is doing just fine catching
up to the 360...All those replacement 360 wont save
it from falling to 3rd place. Also the PS3 is here
for 10 years 4years down 6years to go to catch up to
the 360 and then the Wii..since we all know the PS3
will be here for the next 6 years the Wii i dont
think so,the 360 not likely.

PS.Gamers play games not console sales peace..:)

Nitrowolf24947d ago

actually Nintendo came 3rd, gamecube sold 21 million

moparful994947d ago

No sony doesnt have an image problem its just that microsoft made the 360 into a pop culture item and here in america that "pop culture" title is priceless.. Hell it took me months to get my parents to stop calling my ps3 an xbox.. Microsoft pushed the name xbox 360 so agressively that it became an everyday term.. Thats what seperates the 360 here in america.. Nothing else. Despite all of the bad puclicity, ms propoganda, poor 3rd party support and laggin sales the ps3 is charging back and showing why sony remains the best in the industry.. Its rather sad that the only ammo left to use against the ps3 is the sales here in america... Trust me sony is doing just fine and loving the position they are in.. Ohh and kevin butler vp of awesome says that the ps3 is here to stay....

After GT5 PS3 is going to jump ahead in world wide sales. EU and Japan alone will have record sales. Count on it. @ Baltis did you ever think that it's the US that has the problem. EU and Japan have no problem accepting the PS3. It was Germany where Move was sold out first in. What is Sony doing so wrong that the U.S. should treat them differently? They give you superior games, free online, a variety of games, cheap Bluray player and a solid system that hardly breaks down. What exactly is the problem?

metsgaming4947d ago

plus isnt the ps3 US price cheaper than most other countries when you convert prices?

Tales Of Graces Ƒ Retro Review – Holding Out For a Hero

Gary Green said: Namco Bandai heard the call of many fans asking for the PlayStation release of Tales of Graces which was originally released seemingly exclusively for the Wii back in 2009. If you’re acquainted with the Tales series then Graces f won’t be something entirely new to you, yet if you’re a newcomer then you’ll find a plethora of gameplay mechanics and nuances that distinguish this series from other JRPGs. While the game finds itself following the traditional archetype of JRPGs, such as a somewhat clichéd story, Graces has something to offer to both veterans and newcomers alike.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing697h ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle6h ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal6h ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

Abnor_Mal2h ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

boing15h ago(Edited 5h ago)

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth II - PC Wore it Better

Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth II was an intriguing and unique RTS title, that sadly suffered in its console port.

Was just thinking about this game and wishing I had a way to revisit it. The way EA scrubs these titles from existence once their licensing runs out is horrid.

Indeed. The game can still be played online on PC.
