Gaming's biggest scandals

Spandas Lui of GamePro writes: "Watching a scandal unfold in the gaming world is akin to watching puppies being slowly drowned in a barrel of acid. It’s no fun at all.

You get that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach, knowing that each volatile headline could directly affect the games you play.

In the following article, we take a look at some of the biggest scandals to rock the video game industry; from the infamous DRIV3R-GATE to the unfortunate plight of Richard Gaywood."

awful thing to do

Megaton4955d ago

I still have it. Saved it once I saw they were trying to take it down everywhere, as impossible as that is.

"awful thing to do"

Awfully hilarious.

ProjectVulcan4955d ago

I thought the Gamespot Kane and Lynch scandal was worthy of that list

AntoineDcoolette4955d ago

Yes Jade, I'll buy your game.

Sev4955d ago

@vulcanproject

That should have topped that list IMO. That was the most publicized scandal in recent memory.

This is the third time I've seen this article on this site.

Seriously...

Good thing jade was kicked out of AC2 devopment so the game could become good. Assassins creed 1 is proof that women belong in the kitchen, not in the programing room.

Eiffel4955d ago (Edited 4955d ago )

She wasn't kicked out. Hell she was executive producer of AC2 through the entire development.

Foliage4954d ago (Edited 4954d ago )

Uncharted 2 is arguably the greatest game in history, and it was directed by a very competent woman.

You sound like a man who is frustrated with women, because you have never had a chance with them. Your sexual frustration leads you to spout off these moronic things against women.

Women don't deserve to have their names and reputations tarnished by a guy who hasn't been able to get laid, and doesn't know shit about the video game industry.

Get a life, shithead.

bjornbear4954d ago

or a very sad grown up

and so are the people that agreed with you

seriously, grow some balls man. and fine it could be a joke

but the "women belong in the kitchen" joke is getting old =/ seriously

BigPappaPump4955d ago

I bought Jade's game and i'd buy it again!

I wonder what would happen if Nintendo never screwed over Sony

stephmhishot4955d ago

Ya that's how it probably should've been worded in the article. If Nintendo wasn't so tyrannical back then we might be enjoying some Mario Galaxy in HD glory.

Eiffel4955d ago (Edited 4955d ago )

Weren't Sony and Nintendo at one point working on a system together that would use the CD-ROM format but Sony and Nintendo ended their partnership and thus what became the Playstation. I don't recall Nintendo ever "screwing over" Sony. Sony saw potential in what Nintendo had involved them self with and jumped the ship and used the format for their system. Nintendo then went with Philps and out came the CD-i.

dragon824955d ago (Edited 4955d ago )

Actually Nintendo backed out because Sony would have retained all rights to any IP that used the new CD format under their agreement. Nintendo was not willing to let that happen so they backed out leaving Sony hanging with new tech and nothing to put it in. Sony decided to create the PSX and stick it to Nintendo.

skip2mylou4955d ago (Edited 4955d ago )

http://innovationzen.com/bl... nintendo screwed sony and themseleves over for canceling cntract with sony and then suing sony even though kutagari was the one who was looking and developing all the specs for CD for the SNES, then nintendo joins with philips

ico924955d ago (Edited 4955d ago )

Square didn't screw Nintendo over either, in fact the article even says the reason for this, the reason why FF7 was scrapped on the 64 was because a game that big wasn't technically possible on cartridges, nor was it cheap so in reality Nintendo screwed themselves over. The sony/square screwing over Nintendo is absolute BS i would hardly call it a scandal

DlocDaBudSmoka4955d ago (Edited 4955d ago )

nintendo pulled out of it, bc they seen sony would have all the rights to the cd based games. nintendo pres didnt like that, so he renegged on the deal, thus goin to phillips and sony was left out in the cold like WTF.

Imperator4955d ago

History would be very different.

pacosanchez884955d ago

ya sometimes i wonder myself. what if nintendo and sony worked together and sega was still around, maybe backed by microsoft. apple entered the race. super smash brothers would have a more diverse lineup. oh the possibilites.

Eiffel4955d ago

Funny I'm getting disagrees, when my point is correct. So one sided is this community.

Defective Bot4955d ago

No your point wasn't correct, Nintendo ditched Sony and then announced that they were instead going to partner up with Phillips just hours after Sony announced their partnership with Nintendo.

Marceles4954d ago (Edited 4954d ago )

Not to be some crazy gaming historian, but I didn't know people thought Sony screwed Nintendo over, they didn't ever have anything to screw Nintendo over with at the time lol. They pretty much earned their whole way into the gaming business.

Well Ubisoft should not have PIMPED her out as if she was the only person who made Assassins Creed. I still see the picture of her in the front of the deveoper team smiling like she was the only damn person on earth who mattered.

She loved the attention and hardly ever mentioned all the other people who played a more important role in that game than her. So tough if she gets flack from people who are sick of looking at her massive chin everytime Ass Creed is mentioned.

Here is the comic for those who have not seen it

Seraphemz4955d ago (Edited 4955d ago )

I know..its crazy to have the producer! actually promote the product...how dare they.

It not her fault she happens to be hot, in a world of lonely geeks like you that would never have a chance with a girl like her.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC10m ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Friendlygamer1h ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey60233m ago(Edited 32m ago)

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best
