If you check out the comments for The Escapist's review of Alan Wake, you'll find a number of people expressing dismay over the thought of paying full price for a game that's relatively short. It's easy to understand their point: $60 is not an insignificant sum for most folks, and the game's story-intensive aesthetic and lack of multiplayer means that it's pretty much a one-shot experience. You play it, you finish it, you put it on a shelf and quite probably never pick it up again. Which brings us to the very uncomfortable question of how much is a game actually worth?
Alan Wake, from Max Payne and Control creator Remedy, is a horror classic, prompting one player to buy 4,000 copies that don’t even work.
Kind of a goody story...
On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.
Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.
Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.
Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.
Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄
So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.
I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.
Alan Wake 2 continues the writer's story, 13 years later.
Remedy has Alan Wake merch on sale, including a pretty blue thermos. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan, and many players who want a thermos find themselves without one, though it does appear that Remedy is attempting to fix things. Nevertheless, it has resulted in a lot of upset, illustrating just how much the thermos means to Alan Wake fans.
Im a guy who like video games.
Not enough to be a fanboy or bitch about shit or whatever , but i don't like hypocrites ps3 fanboys....
Alan Wake may not have the best graphics ever. But its still way up there. Id say at this point the only game with better graphics is halo reach.
Im definitely going to look into Alan Wake. If I dont buy it then I am definitely going to rent it. But yeah. It definitely looks much better than most games out there.
Was Heavnly sword worth 60 dollars?, was MAG or that 360 multiplayer only game(the one that you could play against pc players) worth 60 dollars? GOW 3 is only 8-9 hours long, is that worth 60 dollars?......
There is far too much double standards going on, end of the day its worth the money if you are willing to pay for it
here..for me alan wake was 20 hours on normal
so the utor is a joke
Shows how much I've been anticipating it's release. Please move along. Nothing to see here. :)
Length doesn't really bother me when it comes to games. A game might last only 5-7 hours, but if I've enjoyed it, then I say it's money well spent.
And if not, then I can easily sell it on ebay or trade it in. It's not like I'm being forced to keep the game and put up with the money-loss.
