Such a shame .hack is being killed off. Everyone who played and enjoyed the series always hoped for an eventual online component to play "The World."

The series has a very well developed universe and a great fan following that could only get bigger if they tried to up the ante with a new console release. I hope this development team comes up with some new awesome RPG series to take its place or one day comes back and makes "The World" MMO we all wish existed. :)

i never felt that need for an actual online component .

I actually played .HACK because it was a great fictional work and "parody" , where you play a mmo player , with bordeline supernatural events (or rather bugs and glitches here) .

I dont see the interest in making it an actual mmo , or close to it , and then loosing it's uniqueness .
Once online it will only look inferior to actual MMOs or games like Monster hunter .

In fact the already existing online Hack game sucked hard .

Otherwise yeah the serie was awesome .
At least let's hope it will comeback as a new game someday .

I believe 10 years later there will be a hack game where you wear googles and play inside the WORLD. That would be the most awesome MMO ever.

well, there was actually a version of the original games where you could play with 2 other people from a lobby and quest in a keyword area. it was called Fragment. didnt sell amazingly in japan and they never ported it over here. but ya...ive been a long time .hack fanboy since the original anime and games aired, i remember waiting for the next releases eagerly for months with the first games. im very sad to see the end of it, i really loved it...maybe some of the stuf that didnt make it over here will get brought over in the future

Why the .Hack Gaming Series Needs a Remake

.hack (Dot Hack) is a gaming series that started when technology was still evolving and growing. These games showed us some of the horrors but also the best parts of online gaming. But these games are decades old, and perhaps it's time for a remake, a remaster, or even a game in the series.

the OG games, yes they do.

but.. they are very niche to begin with.
bk then, i only knew one person who played the games, beside me.

franwex265d ago

I downloaded the whole series in a sale, but have yet to play them.

gold_drake265d ago

yea they are a commitment haha.

especially the G.U series.

Goosejuice265d ago

U would think they would have made an actual mmo out of this game

gold_drake265d ago

i think they had a mmo of it, in japan only. could be wrong tho.

Pyrofire95265d ago

I think you're right. But I could be wrong too.

Quetzll264d ago

You guys might be right. I could be wrong, but you guys definitely might be on to something here. Who knows??? Pretty sure i heard something about that years back, but i could be wrong.

The Xenosaga trilogy also needs a remake or at least a remaster. I never got into .hack when they came out on the PS2 I would try them out. A remake or a remaster would be great I am not paying an arm and a leg for the original games.

I've been wanting a new entry to this series for so long.

Played YS 8 and 9.. 8 was much better. Looking for new YS games.

jznrpg668d ago (Edited 668d ago )

I hope 10 is more like 8 or previous games . 9 wasn’t bad and had some good elements but the zones were annoying to have to clear enough orbs for points to get to next zone . Unnecessary imo. Combat was fun and story was ok but it wasn’t as good as 8 7 6 etc . It’s still one of my favorite franchises . Just bought Ys Book 1&2 on DS . I have the Turbo Grafx 16 copy also .
