ZeroTolerance writes: Epic action games seem to be the theme for 2010 and so far things are good. EA and Visceral Games are back with yet another entry to the genre, this time with a game that borrows from two ends of the spectrum. Dante's Inferno is a balls-to-the-wall action game that pits an unlikely hero against the forces of Hell in order to retrieve the love of his life. While it may borrow heavily from another action title we will try to refrain from mentioning there is a lot to like about Visceral's latest. The action is intense, the visuals are stunning, and anyone interested in action games will be guaranteed to have a ton of fun with this one.
There are good video game protagonists, and there are bad video game protagonists.
I disagree that max is unlikable. Chloe is infinitely more unlikable in my opinion.
Most of these aren't even that bad. Especially comparing to others like Squall "Whatever" Leonhart, Forspoken's Frey, and the guy from Atomic Heart.
i had to stop reading after the "blatant misogyny" in the Dantes inferno section.
i actually liked Max haha.
the forspoken chick is missing tho
Grab your katana, and slice your way through this list featuring the best hack and slash games the PlayStation 3 had to offer.
Dante's inferno... an excellent GoW inspired game. So sad the sequels will never be.
heavenly sword was such a short, but amazing game. that game should be prime material to be made into a download only remaster.
I really enjoyed Castlevania, but struggled to get into it again reattempting it a few years back. I still think it does another of things well; story, presentation, level varietily and art style at least. Gameplay maybe has not stood test of time unfortunately which makes it a chore to get through.
Dante's Inferno at 4K 60FPS!
Sad this may never get the sequel it deserves. It's still one of the best GoW clones around.
I would love to revisit my old PS3 games played at a higher framerate and resolution. UC2, TLOU, GOW3, KZ2 & 3, Demon Souls
with God of War III right around the corner. As the genre defining series, God of War is simply going to be a better purchase for my hard earned dollar.
The sad truth is that, in the world of HD gaming, money talks. Too many of us don't have the budget to pick up Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2, God of War III AND Dante's inferno all within 6 weeks of each other. One of them has to go...and the answer is obvious which it is.
Started off thinking this game was just OK.
But after the first play through once you've unlocked all the goodies and learnt the combos (especially the cross ones) its bloody brilliant.
Its a solid 8/10
It may not be winning the critics over but it's a full 20 dollars less than usual price in my local store.
