Video Game Expands the Concept of Dark Energy for Mass Effect

Could a person harness the power of dark energy-the mysterious and pervasive force suspected of speeding the universe's expansion-to block bullets, hurl adversaries around like rag dolls, and create small gravitational vortices out of thin air using nothing more than thoughts? The short answer: no. That is, unless that person exists in the intricate cyber universe created by the makers of the video games Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2.

PSN brings on Dark energy, Its called loneliness and then depression.

Terry Tate5189d ago

Was that the game explained that they use a particle/anti particle manipulation to communicate when traveling faster than light. I found it cool because I was listening to "A Brief History of Time" (audiobook) and happened to just finish a section that talked about this very concept earlier in the day. Its always cool to see sci-fi games take a stab at creating a semi-scientific explanation for whats going on in the game.

Now if we could just get dark energy into our cars...

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
