Halo Waypoint to launch this autumn

Microsoft has announced that this autumn it will launch Halo Waypoint, a new destination for Halo fans on Xbox LIVE.

So is this like a website that just has Halo stuff? Seems alright I guess I'm more interested in the Halo anime though. I want it to be something like Dead Space Downfall.

Edit: I just read up on the Halo anime called Halo Legends, it will be made by some of the best anime studios according to people on the anime new network. It will be like the Animatrix where it has several little movies. It will also be releasing on Blu-Ray which is ironic because of the obvious.

...that I like this expansion of the series, and that more games should follow suit. Remember back in the day when Nintendo had a brand of saturday morning cartoons based off of some of there game characters? It's good to see that they're trying to broaden the awareness past the video games.

Because from what ive played from the first halo was awesome with halo 2 leaving me LOST & halo 3 leaving me in NO MANS LAND. Only thing keeping this series alive is the multiplayer which is great but without a great story its like going to watch braveheart in theaters & then u go to watch the sequal & the next release just to be DISAPPOINTED.

I do agree i liked Halo CE's story the most. didn't like the other 2 as much. still good games, but Halo CE was by far my no 1.

Halo 1 was about the sort of wonderment and stepping into the unknown of the Halo ring, and then the mystery of the flood. It tied itself up well so it could act as a singular game .

With the player now knowledgeable about the Halo rings, flood, etc Halo 2 was more focused on learning about the Covenant's heirachies and culture ('knowing the enemy'), as well as setting it up for the conclusion. More different environments and a faster paced story.

Halo 3 then aimed at ramping up the scale of everything to make it more you're working as a part of a larger whole and it affects more than just Master Chief. Larger fights and a constant drive forward.

So summarised:

Halo 1: Mystery & awe
Halo 2: Expand the universe & increase pace
Halo 3: Increase scale & tie up loose ends

I'm can't really pick one as being my absolute favourite, but I did really love the atmosphere and feel of Halo 1 in the great sense of awe and mystery about it. That couldn't really be repeated for the sequels as it had already told the player what everything was so then it was simply filling in more blank spots and bringing in a wider universe (and hence larger scale).

I guess it's just what attracts each player more out of the different focuses for each game.

I get what your saying and agree with you, but at the same time those were not the only reason.

There were a lot of little changes that were probably to small for me to mention or people will think i was crazy, but i noticed them and they also contributed to me not liking halo 2 and 3 as much as halo 1.

i don't like gears 2, but i loved gears 1. I didn't like halo 2 and 3 as much as halo 1 but i respect the fact that other people do.

i totally want more halo games. there is a lot of story still left to tell. if halo is average, tell me what game is not ? killzone 2, resistance... cod.. and all the other shooters, dark, gritty, next to no story, lame vehicle use or no vehicle use at all. most of them are just as generic.

Is it possible to get enough Gears of War? I think not. Halo rules too, can't wait for ODST and Reach. I read in Game Informer that ODST is "non linear", so now I'm even more excited for it.

Perhaps it could lead to similar 'portals' forming around certain Live games for major releases or genres that people can download content from or even have chatrooms / discussion areas.

Eg: A racing portal to get trailers for NFS: Shift and Forza 3 (and talk about them with other racing fans) as well as DLC and car sharing for Forza 2 straight from there

The longest-lasting games always have great communities built around them (Bungie.net has a great community in its forums, Bungie's weekly updates and webmaster, Garry's Mod for HL2 has hugely active forums and modding community, Warcraft 3's DoTA clans, etc). Something like that through Live itself would be great.

There's been one Halo FPS so far with a big Expansion coming, an RTS which is nothing like the shooters.... and then another FPS...which will probably be different from the trilogy, coming.

I like Halo....there are hundreds of other games!!! How could 3-4 titles in the Halo Universe bother you? There's still Mass Effect, Biothock, Gears, Alan Wake, Crackdown, Left 4 Dead, Half Life, Forza, Modern Warfare and everything else.

I would be sad if there was no Halo Reach with good graphics coming. :P
