Andrew Yoon of Joystiq writes:
Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience is one of the first Blu-ray discs to offer a video game and movie in a single package. (The special edition of Stranglehold on PS3 included a copy of Hard Boiled.) It's a great idea.
Don't know why it took so long.

This is impressive. BIG impressive! I will definitely buy this.

if only so we get more great pkg deals like this XD

ultimolu5450d ago

I may consider this and yes it's a great idea.

...this is the only way I'd consider purchasing this game with movie in tow. It'd be nice for a version of Batman AA to come special with a bluray version of Dark Knight. Collectors Edition maybe. However it'd also suck for me if I did buy it since I already have bluray for Dark Knight...meh oh well cannot win them all.

legendkilla5450d ago

im not a huge fan of the movie.. Too long and drawn out, but i might pick this up depending on the price point. I hope they start doing this with more blu ray's

This is a great idea but doesn't it kinda validate the things the Xbox fanboys say about PS3 beign bought to watch films?

To the person who mentioned AA and Dark Knight, I think Gotham Knight would be nice to put on the PS3 AA.

"doesn't it kinda validate the things the Xbox fanboys say about PS3 beign bought to watch films"
Ummm... lots of people do buy PS3s to watch films. This doesn't validate any argument because the argument was never valid.
How is the ability to watch Blu-ray discs on PS3 a bad thing?
Anybody stating that as though it was a bad thing is simply jealous or mad.

SpoonyRedMage5450d ago (Edited 5450d ago )

Well yes, it's not a bad thing, but it seems to me like a gigantic target is being painted on your chests.

Sony actually said they planned to do this a few months ago as well.

EDIT: I'm on about the Xbox Fanboys saying you guys buy the PS3 ONLY to watch films.

I have to disagree with this. I say anyone who doesn't take advantage of the features the system has to offer then they are wasting their money. I also try to avoid DD as much as possible so to be honest, I enjoy the fact that I get a game with the movie.

Also, if anything this encourage more people to buy a PS3 as a bluray player. When you have a PS3, chances are you will buy games for it. So, in a way, the Bluray feature is a trojan horse for more people to buy PS3 games.

I think this is way better than those games offer with DVD/Bluray.

All Star Heroes: Top 10 DC Comics Video Games

Warner Brother's DC Entertainment has been known for putting out (mostly) consistent content for years, and that includes forays into video games. Given that DC focuses a lot more on their solo characters, particularly Batman, Superman and Green Lantern, than Marvel does, its no wonder that DC has had an easier time adapting their IP's to other trans-media proprieties. While Marvel's team movie effort The Avengers has proven wildly successful, DC's Dark Knight trilogy, recent Man of Steel film and the entire animated universe helmed by DC animation veteran Bruce Timm has defined an era of superhero cartoons and direct-to-dvd animated features.

Man, DC Comics hasn't had great luck with games, has it? They had to resort to a few pretty average games to fill out the list.

Watchmen co-creator Dave Gibbons did little work on Watchmen: The End Is Nigh, but was paid “a lot”

Watchmen co-creator Dave Gibbons revealed that he was paid a hefty sum to be a consultant on the critically-panned Watchmen: The End Is Nigh game even though he wasn’t heavily involved. Gibbons also says the game is not canon, and because of that, he was actually fine with liking and disliking parts of the game.

Lost Potential: Watchmen

"A brawler? Are you serious? As a game developer you look at the Watchmen movie / graphic novel and think “Hmmm that would totally go good with a fighting game, but since Dr. Manhattan would own everybody lets make it a brawler with Rorschach and Nite Owl!” Screw you Deadline Games!" - FirstDropShow

Well, *as* a brawler, it was decent. And had better graphics than most downloadable games. And don't forget, most games take longer to make than most movies, so movie games are always rushed.

That said... yeah, it wasn't worthy of the source material.
