The current pace of things by October 2024 we're looking at around 60 Million PS5's and 29-30 Mill Series X|S.

purple101222d ago

yeh I dont think that many more xbox will sell. mostly the people that brought them are the hard-core early adopters,

sales are dying each week incase you haven't noticed. last month was 35% down on last year. ps is obviously up a huge amount now the shortages have ended.

Hofstaderman222d ago

I think the ratio is more than that...

ocelot07222d ago

Damn can only imagine November, December and January 2024 PS5 sale number it's going to be insane.

jznrpg222d ago (Edited 222d ago )

No supply issues any more and PS5 is outselling Xbox over 3-1.
Xbox is in decline and further decline is expected.
Some were expecting a massive jump in sales for Xbox because of Starfield but they still lost by a large margin(-1million) even without any major games to compete against last month.

Most of us don’t give a crap about gamepass and that’s MS’s main focus hence the declining sales of Xbox. MS is going full digital rental service sub at some point but it’s a big mistake imo.
People want options even if they don’t use them all.

EvertonFC222d ago

Xbox will find out the hard way, there going down slowly like a sinking ship imo.
Next gen could be there last imo, because they can't go back with GP now.
Imagine having no games if GP was cancelled because you haven't bought any games for 10 years, nothing but unavailable MT you've bought etc.
It's all or nothing for Xbox NOW, all eggs were put into one basket long ago and it spells disaster.

recoctimocassirnff221d ago (Edited 221d ago )

These figures worry me greatly, actually.

Ms would've projected similar sales, yet they still went through with their 69 Bil dollar deal.

How do they possibly expect to recoup that invest with sales like these, during the month of one of their most overhyped games?

Obviously, anyone that's paying attention knows that ms want to cannibalise and consolidate the industry (that's a very bad thing btw, ms fans), but this leads to believe they're going to be much much more aggressive with their acquisition strategy, starting tomorrow.

shinoff2183221d ago

My issue with ms is what they've been trying to do with gaming. I don't like it. Their putting all their bread in one basket with gamepass(their game sales have suffered due to it), their push for a digital only future is a huge turn off also. I've said it before I'll play games on gamepass, and to support physical games if I like said game I'll buy the physical on ps. Sony and Nintendo have been very supportive of physical games. Ask those small publishers like limited run games, special reserve games, first press games, eastasiasoft, etc why they don't do xbox releases. It shows ms is trying to kill physical

Things are going to be so different when Nintendo Switch 2 comes out and Nintendo’s market share goes back to zero.

Ristul222d ago

Switch 2 will probably pass Xbox Series X within a year after release, no worries 😂😂😂

Sgt_Slaughter221d ago

Good lord what a horribly bad take

Getting flashbacks to people making predictions for the Switch while the Wii U was on life support, and look where that got them.

ChasterMies221d ago

Dude, it’s a joke. Switch is lumped into current gen console sales as if we’re in a three horse race between two consoles and a handheld. When Switch 2 comes, VG Chartz will have start Nintendo back at zero. It’s a ridiculous comparison.

History shows that every month after September, straight until February, provides bigger sales number than the month before.

If PS5 estimates now already sit at 1.6 million for the month of September, you really have to wonder where PS5 sales will be sitting at for the months of October, November, December and January.

Additionally:

Starting with October, sales estimates will be affected by Spiderman 2, then PS5 Slim, then PSPR, Black Friday & Christmas Season and, as a little icing on the cake, at Video Game Awards in December it's possible to even get one or two suprise announcements, too.

Sony's forecast for the fiscal year '23 was at 25 million PS5's sold. Now, I really think they will achieve it. Maybe even ~26m.

But either way: Well done!

EvertonFC222d ago

Spiderman alone will sell millions of consoles, who said SP games don't sell consoles 🤔🤭

Chevalier221d ago

"who said SP games don't sell consoles "

Phil Spencer said in no world even if Starfield were 11/10 would Xbox outsell Playstation. So he was right for once. Single Player games on Xbox do NOT sell consoles. Case in point drop off year over year even with Starfield in September. Lol

I love the game so far but please don’t make the final part a mini game fest

Everytime I get to a new part in Rebirth it’s “mini game time”

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's Scope Was Impacted by Xbox Series S Limitations

Wccf tech writes: "Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's scope was impacted by the Xbox Series S hardware limitations, as developers could only make a game that was 25% bigger than its predecessor."

This is the issue with things like this

Xbox Series X is apparently to MS the worlds most powerful console

However the Series S is obviously a limitation because it’s underpowered and developers have to go for parity.

So what’s the point of the world’s most powerful console if you are holding third party developers back? They aren’t going to push themselves if they have to think about the weakest console.

The issue wouldn’t be as bad if it was just Xbox but you are also affecting the PS version aswell

I think developers need to start just taking advantage of a console and if one of them can’t do X Y and Z then f*** them…why should the others suffer. What’s MS going to do? The bigger the franchise the least chance MS are going to tell them to f*** off. Baulders Gate 3 seemed to have stood their ground and suddenly their “strict” parity rule didn’t really matter. We suddenly got super optimisation efforts for the Series S that got things sorted.

I agree, and the sad part is use normal folk saw it the second they announced their plans.

More info from the author of the article, I think: https://www.reddit.com/r/ki...

Quote:
"1) I was told this info from the producer of the game Martin Klíma.
2) He specifically said the game will have only one mode.
3) And this mode is 4K 30 on PS5/XSX and 1440p 30 on XSS.
4) He said that the game is already running north of the 30 FPS cap so the performance should be stable on launch, much better than KCD1.
5) The limitation was XSS because of the 10GB memory. He said that's why they wanted to make the game 25% larger.
6) Speculation on my part: the output resolution is probably upscaled and the reason why there won't be a 60 FPS mode is because it'll most likely be very CPU heavy, like Dragon's Dogma 2 for example."

Doesn't seem like they're adding a 40fps mode on PS5/Series X for launch even if they can handle it.

Sgt_Slaughter48m ago

I'd much rather have 1440p/60fps or even 45fps. Having just one, even with the Series S in mind, is disappointing.
