Excited to play this again I love hack n slash titles

mikeslemonade1973d ago (Edited 1973d ago )

We don’t need this remaster. The hack and slash genre has advanced, going back to playing a clunky slash game is not necessary.

But I will play it just cause it’s coming to PC. 4k 60 frames for me.

Kainbrightside1973d ago

I have a PC as well but I'll get this on switch just to play while waiting on the bus and metro. I love the series anyways and would love a new installment.

porkChop1974d ago

Never played Onimusha. Do the mechanics hold up?

pietro12121974d ago

It plays like the older Resident Evil games in a way. Tank controls, fixed cameras

porkChop1974d ago

Ah, ok. Not sure if I'd be down for that. I'll have to look more into it then. Thanks.

Livingthedream1974d ago

Very comparable. Crazy how underpowered the switch is.

CosmicTurtle1974d ago

The Switch may be “underpowered” in some respects, at least when you reject the idea it is simultaneously a portable machine. But its power is hardly going to represented in upscaled remaster of a prerendered ps2 game. It really looks very similar on PS4 and Xbox One too. Obviously those are more powerful consoles but that is not what the video is representing. This is more akin to the FFXII Zodiac Age update in graphical terms.

EddieNX 1974d ago (Edited 1974d ago )

Nice try , Onimusha on Switch looks exactly the same on Switch as it does on XB1 and PS4. The Switch version looks way way crisper and higher resolution, use your eyes.

Its just a 1080p remaster with not much else, they're not charging full price.

Pantz1974d ago

Why not compare it to the Xbox One X version?

CosmicTurtle1974d ago

Because it is an upscale appraised on a site called Nintendoeverything.

DafunkyRebel1974d ago

I just want them to make Onimusha 2 and 3 for PS4 and I’ll be good.

Will We Ever See A New Onimusha Game?

Cultured Vultures: Capcom's epic samurai series Onimusha has been on hiatus for the better part of 15 years. We're asking if it'll ever come back.

Nope, and Capcom tested the waters with Onimusha HD and nobody bought it. So, yea, we effectively killed the Onimusha franchise by not buying the game.

MrSwankSinatra1130d ago

not true because i remember in that leaked capcom document of all their future projects "onimusha new work" was one of the titles listed.

blackblades1130d ago

Yeah that was a literal leak not a rumors leak. Guess people forgot about it.

VersusDMC1130d ago

The HD remake had a music problem due to the controversy with the original composer and replacing his music with meh music. Maybe that affected sales.

But an Onimusha game of the quality of recent capcom games (RE2,DMC5) would definitely be welcomed by everyone and the sales of Ghost of tsushima will hopefully push Capcom to give the franchise another try.

Silly gameAr1130d ago

It wasn't a remake though, it was a remaster, and they could have done a better job on it, but it was good playing through it for old times sake.

Now, if they made a full remake, that would be awesome.

Redrex70001130d ago

they just put that game out there out of the blue
wish they did it for the other games

FlavorLav011130d ago (Edited 1130d ago )

We didn’t kill it by not picking up an old ass game with hardly any quality of life updates. That game was absolutely amazing for its time, but it’s capcom’s own fault for such a lame remaster. You want interest from old fans or new fans, you gotta come with something that doesn’t look and feel 3 generations old.

zarbor1129d ago

LOL....the reason we will not see another Onimusha game is not because they put out a dopey HD version of an antiquated game on current gen. The reason we will not see it is the same reason we have not seen a new Dino Crisis, Okami, Strider, Viewtiful Joe, Bionic Commando, etc. Its the same reason everytime.

CrimsonWing691129d ago (Edited 1129d ago )

Oh yea? Tell that to the Darkstalker fans then.

Same thing happened to Zone of the Enders 3.

Pass.

Ghost of Tsushima filled that void for me, and then some. I don't see Capcom reaching this level of quality for a single-player game.

FreeckyCake1130d ago

Ghost of Tsushima nor Nioh is nothing like the Onimusha franchise. Onimusha is unique compared to GOT.

1130d ago
MrSwankSinatra1130d ago

lmaoooo what? ghost of tsushima doesn't have anything in common with onimusha out of the character being a samurai lmaooooo

Godmars2901130d ago

How about remakes/reissues of the old ones?

Dirtnapstor1130d ago

We have. It's called Nioh. And it's glorious.

FlavorLav011130d ago (Edited 1130d ago )

Nioh gameplay - world class (10/10)
Nioh story telling - not so much (4/10)

MrSwankSinatra1130d ago

Nioh story is garbage tbh. plus i don't care for the characthers of that series unlike onimusha which had much better writing and characters.

Godmars2901130d ago

Onimusha's main characters, aside from 4, were all based on real actors.

Vithar1130d ago

damn that's cool :) haha never played Onimusha

Onimusha was a great franchise. I wish they'd relaunch the franchise with a next gen entry. Until then though, I guess Sekiro is more than capable of filling the gap left by Onimusha.

CrimsonWing691221d ago

Excellent game and I'm pissed we won't get a port of 2, 3, and Dawn of Dreams so I can get the platinum on them!
