Were you really? The PS4 would’ve gotten a price cut to $250 before it became $200. Plus the console is already selling well enough not to need a dramatic $100 price cut.

I predicted that Japanese 3rd party resurgence in the west for PayStation 4 will be phenomenal. Nioh, NieR Automata, Persona 5, Yakuza, all wowed the western gamers in a bib big way. RESPECT was restored and Greatness Arrived magnificently.
In 2018 it will continue but with the big western kahunas like Spiderman God of War Days Gone Dreams RDR2 potentially doubling the steam rolling record set by PS4 in 2017.

If Sony does, for whatever reason, drop the price to $199 permanently, they’re going to absolutely slay the competition. Let’s not forget that the $199 PS4 sold out at most retailers within 24 hours this passed holiday. No doubt in my mind a permanent price drop would do very well. They won’t even need to do that though with the exclusive lineup they have. Make a custom Spider Man console bundle and that will sell millions alone.

Spiderman PS4 is at 25 million views now on YouTube. I am sure it will reach critical mass this year with Sony and Disney behind its promotion.

It’s going to be a huge game for sure. Definitely Insomniac’s best selling title, and probably one of the best selling exclusives on PS4. That IP can do wonders if handled properly.

$199 has ALWAYS been the magic price to get in the general generic public in. always.

I always chuckle when I see an article stating things like “PlayStations success feels underplayed” and “heavily hyped Xbox One x”... from a media site... the only place that is responsible for each statement and or creating hype or underplaying a product.

I think one has to look no further than 1st week of Dec numbers.
1,001,089 PS4 for the week
compared to
587,494 XB1's for the week
Almost 1 month later since the launch of XB1X and it's lower than Switch sales even.
And yes plenty of XB1X's are in the stores.
It's the lack of exclusives and fatigue of MS major IP's
Forza 7 won GOTY and sold much less than GTSport.
