Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Review - IGN

The open world gameplay of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is a brilliant direction for the future of the franchise, but this promising shift is dramatically let down by the numerous ways in which Scarlet and Violet feel deeply unfinished.

You know its bad when IGN gives a Nintendo exclusive a low score.

RpgSama666d ago (Edited 666d ago )

The sad part is that this is the worst reviewed Pokemon game and probably at the same time the best selling one week in, 10 million plus copies in between the 2, just sad how this little an effort gets recompensated this way.

RaiderNation666d ago

Its beyond time Nintendo releases a Switch Pro or a Switch 2. Im spoiled after using the Steam Deck.

IGN suddenly has standards now? Better late than never, but in reality they'll be back to giving Cyberpunk level launches 8's in no time.

Wrex369666d ago

Wait did the bugs and glitches ACTUALLY effect an IGN review? You can't be serious lol

Outlawzz666d ago

There's a reason they posted this so late. The review doesn't have as much impact now.

RpgSama666d ago

Exactly, they get the best of both worlds, release an "honest" review while at the same time not affecting first week, couple of weeks sales in any way, this keeps Nintendo and Game Freak happy.

Honestly when this game launched I hardly saw a review on this site and others

When a game usually launches the reviews flood in but Pokemon have started to slowly creep in where they go unnoticed

It’s crazy

The same happened to Sword and Shield

exactly.
Nintendo is super sketchy.
i did review of a 1st party game once and i had to change my score because of the perks you get if you score them higher. not even kidding.

funny how the 3d games are not in the top 5 haha

Giga_Gaia54d ago

It should be:
1) Gold/Silver/Crystal
2) Red/Blue/Yellow
3) Ruby/Saphire/Emerald

The rest can be put in any order you want.

No way original Gen 1 games are better than R/S/E

Rutaprkl54d ago

I liked Sword/Shield (Which didn't even make the list) way more than Scarlet/Violet, but everyone has opinions.

Inverno54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

IMO I think S&S is better because it's more visually appealing due to it's nice backdrops and linearity, but it was still meh. I couldn't bother finishing Scar/Vio, they managed to make an even more boring broken game only 2 games after S&S and that's quite impressive.

the amount of games with forced exp share making this list is depressing
even games like ranger or colleseum/ XD
or mystery dungeon, way more deserving
